Hi everyone, I will be starting a full time grad job the coming september, I am looking for advice on ensuring my first grad job paycheck will not get overtaxed.
Current situation:
- Job 1 (Zero-hour uni job): Terminates 8 Aug 2026. Will request P45.
- Job 2 (Zero-hour other job): Doesn't earn much, on a good month I'd probably get £80-100 a month at most, so I wouldn't want this be the job as my default one to be applied the tax-free allowance. Want to keep this dormant in order to possibly take on job assignments towards the end of this year.
- Sidenote My HMRC account apparently has no record of this job even though it is done in PAYE.
- Job 3 (Full-time grad job):
I am considering diversifying my 100% VUAG portfolio (in a pie). I am considering two ways:
-
Completely swapping to VWRP
-
Make my pie 50% VUAG + 25% XUSE + 25% EMIM
Completely swapping to VWRP looks like a simple all-world option but it is basically 60% US. This percentage might be a bit high, depending on whether I have confidence that the US will continue to outpace the global economy. So I might want more money in the rest of the world.
Would it be better to keep 50% VUAG, and have 25% XUSE (MSCI World Ex-US, fund allocates majorly on the developed world) and 25% EMIM (MSCI Emerging Markets)? This seems to make my portfolio a bit more geographically diversified than swapping all t

Hi everyone, I am a second-year studying an interdisciplinary subject. Throughout this easter holiday I managed to make myself revision knowledge handouts to go through the concepts again, and did some practical skills practice. Other than that I couldn't find the motivation to revise/make essay plans/do past exam papers. Every day I'm waking up later and later, sleeping later and later, never feeling rested, and socialising has practically disappeared for me compared to during Term. Anxiety would basically stop me from doing what I need to do (akin to giving me a mental block), such as revising, and especially resting - The doomscrolling to take my mind off stress is really getting into me.
I gave my blood pressure readings to my provider, and I didnt know until now that I wore my cuffs wrong. I just wore it like it came out of the package (so I wore it completely inside out compared to the way it is supposed to), I didnt know how to correctly adjust and where to fit my arm, and it didnt come to me that I was wearing it wrong. I only just learnt how to wear it correctly.
As a result I gave some bollocks blood pressure reading like 159 systolic but 75 diastolic. Will this impact anything and will it be a big deal?
