I'm looking for something that will store 2-3 meters of webbing and locks so I can tighten a side-release buckle on the other end.

It's for strapping a large duffle bag on a cargo bike.

The closest thing I can find is a rachet strap but I don't need that much tension and adjusting the length on a rachet strap isn't convenient. I'd like something lighter too.

My battery lights are all getting old and don't hold a charge. I'd like to switch to a dynamo like the velogical but damn that's pricy, even more so in Canada and it doesn't even include the light. I would prefer a rim dynamo; it would mostly live on my daily rider and I'd swap it to my mtb for bikepacking.

I'm interviewing for a job about 20km away. I've had a similar commute before and I would just take a shower and change but that doesn't really work for an interview. I'm not so keen on dragging out a 20km ride to 2 hours to avoid changing. it's in an industrial park so it's not like I can go to a cafe nearby and change there. transit is about 1h40.

If the weather is just right I can probably get away with riding only a little slow and changing my shirt real quick in the bushes or something, or I guess just ask to use the bathroom right away and sneakily change my shirt there.

If it's wet/icy enough that I need to be on my winter bike maybe I'll just get a car-share.

I guess I kinda an

I have a machined surface 6x5in that needs to be flat within 0.004." When I place my part on the surface plate and sweep the indicator I can see that the surface is quite flat but it slopes about 0.005." I don't care that it's not level. I considered shimming my part but that would be a lot of guessing and remeasuring.

If I was messuring straightness I could plot my points in excel, add a best fit line a get the variation from that. Excel doesn't have a good way to do that for a surface graph though. On a CMM I could create a virtual best fit plane and get the variation from that.

Is my best bet to plot my surface in Matlab and do it that way or is there an easier way?

Is this a course anyone has as part of their degree? I'm not talking about hand drafting, That was kinda useless, better to jump straight to CAD imo.

I did an industrial (product) design degree before engineering. In a 4 year bac. I had 5 semesters of product design sketching and it's been probably my most valuable 'outside' skill in engineering. I don't do a lot of really pretty sketches but I do a lot of <30min sketches that allow me to flesh out several concepts before sinking a lot of time into CAD. Even more valuable is quickly sketching in a meeting, it saves a lot of time and makes my ideas very compelling.

How would you feel about a sketching course for (mechanical) engineering?

Had an Ursus jumbo on a mini cargo bike (omnium nano, basically). One of the legs came loose within a year and the paint flaked off pretty fast. It was still ok but the bike was stolen so I'm putting another one together.

I'd like something with more ground clearance since I smacked the pivot on curbs more than a few times.

I really like the width (40cm) but it would also be cool if I could turn the pedals with the stand deployed.

I'm open to single pivot or dual pivot.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to ask this. I'm not sure how to search for a good answer and the ai answer was unsatisfying.

Maybe another way to ask is: is there a way to approach shelling in the 'messy' 3D slicer way that finds its way back to a precise, mathematically defined surface?

I don't know shit about computers and it took me two tries to pass linear algebra and numerical methods so be gentle.

The same way 29x2.4 has kept 27.5x3 alive? Or is 27.5x3 already dead?

Personally I hope so. I'm a fan of 29+.

On the flip side do you think people will have a lot of the same complaints of 32 as they had of 29+.

I have a pair of 45N cobrafist pogies that are showing some wear and I'll probably want to replace them in a couple years.

It seems like all pogies are very L-shaped. On a swept bar I have an ice cream cone grip where my forearm is somewhat parallel to the grip so the pogie fit isn't ideal.

Bonus if they're warmer than cobrafists with a removable liner. I still need heavy mittens with the cobrafists.
