Hi all,

I'm looking for some solid sources of socialist thought that are both theoretical and practice-oriented. I'm not really academic enough for the full theory (although I've read the basics in the past), but I also find a lot of the magazines and newspapers I read don't interact at all with the theory or philosophy behind socialist political economy. I'm looking for good sources that strike a balance between dealing with leftist theory and engaging with how those theories can be activated in practice, hopefully rooted well within our current circumstances rather than only future-crafting (although that is also important).

Any suggestions for where to start?

Thanks!

I have a pair of Marsblades I got during the pandemic that I broke out again for the first time in years the other day. I've been back to skating and playing hockey this year and while my fitness is terrible, the mechanics are coming back and I'm a decent skater - fairly strong edges, good at crossovers, changing direction, backwards skating etc etc all feel very natural and easy to me.

I thought that rollerblading would be basically the same, but when I got out there earlier this week it felt like I was skating for the first time again. My legs were shaky, arms out for balance, felt like I was going to fall over at any moment, could barely turn sharply or cross over and I wouldn't have dr

Hi all,

This is maybe a niche post/ complaint but I was out sick and traveling for most of the summer and just signed back up for stick n' puck at my local rink in NYC (City Ice Pavilion). I noticed they have a new rule that they no longer provide pucks, so players need to bring their own if they want them. You had to click to confirm you understand the rule or else you couldn't sign up for a session on the site.

Is this normal in other places or just a new cheap rule? It just seems odd to me. Pucks are not that expensive and you can buy them in bulk, and I assume the rink already has pucks for various hockey leagues. Sure it's annoying to go pick up the pucks that fly out of the rink, a

Hi all!

Been a while since I posted here but I'm just looking for some encounter design inspiration for my campaign. As a bit of background, we're playing in Eberron (currently doing some plane hopping) and the party is currently 4 Level 5 PCs -

  • Shifter Gloomstalker Ranger/Druid,
  • Kenku Artillerist Artificer,
  • Half-Elf Fiend Warlock, and
  • Changeling Creation Bard

I'm having some trouble with varying up combats right now. Often it either defaults to big boss guy with some minions, or a swarm of lower level enemies. They are all somewhat squishy, so it's not hard for me to bring at least one of them down close to 0 HP in any given fight, but my issue is more with the variation

Hi all, just planning a date for this week and thought Gantry Park would be a nice time outdoors. I've seen older posts that you could get a pitcher of beer and sit out there - is that still the case? I don't see anything about concessions or a bar when I google it so just want to check.

Hi all, my DSLR camera (Canon T3i Rebel) stopped working out of nowhere this weekend, any ideas where I should take it to get evaluated and potentially repaired? I walked over to B&H yesterday, but didn't see any sort of repairs station, and I've seen some old posts here about Camera Doctor and Phototec but not sure if they are still good or reliable so just wanted to check.

If anyone is a camera person, I'm not a gear head so don't really know what happened. My battery is charged and everything was working at the PR day parade, but the camera just won't turn on anymore.

I have some leftover sushi rice and was going to make a mixture of tuna, kewpie mayo, thin shaved cucumber with sesame seeds to roll up into rice balls and eat like onigiri. What would happen if I quickly fried the outside of the prepared rice balls? Would the rice get crispy and crunchy while the inside remained uncooked, or would the inside turn into a weird cooked mushy mess?

Hi all, I know I'm the millionth person to post about picking the right skates but my question is less on how to choose new skates in terms of fit, style, performance or anything like that and more about what the sweet spot is for mid-level skates is in terms of comfort and durability.

My CCM Vector 05s are finally about ready to rest. The tendon guards on both are broken, most of the eyelits are somewhere between fully rusted over or don't have metal rings in them anymore and are starting to break the leather when I tie my skates, the inside lining is all messed up and doesn't stick to the inside walls of the skates anymore. They feel great because I've been skating in them for 20 years b
