YT creator Theo seems to think that the main limiting factor right now isn't funding, but compute.

He also makes the claim that LLM companies aren't subsidizing because they need to increase user base. It seems that he implies that companies are making profit from enterprise users, where things cost a lot more. The non-enterprise options that are costing them money are good for 2 things: they are loss leaders, serving as advertising etc, and they get your chat data, which is a pretty valuable source of data for their chatbots.

If this is true, it means the demand is outstripping compute capacity. This shifts the question to me. If this is true,

Here's a video with the sound: https://drive.proton.me/urls/HFXCQY48V8#EYoK0JsirPVQ

I looked at the service data sheet to see what phase of each cycle happens when the sound is happening. It doesn't sound like it occurs during the circulation motor phase. I took off the cover in the base that covers the drain ball and spun the drain pump and didn't see any issues. But it's a pretty loud grinding sound. I can't really tell what it is. Any guesses?

I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the exemption of 9 hours for a trip other than by walking includes the time that you spend in the other location or if it's just the time of traveling. The exemption says 9 hours, but then it also says that the exemption counts for the whole journey. So if you make a trip to another city for a conference and the flight is only 4 hours long, does that count as exemptible?

I once read of a situation where 'Abdu'l-Baha's account of an event (something like the number of people who were present at some recent event) differed from eye witnesses. When asked of this difference, 'Abdu'l-Baha apparently said to accept the eye witness account rather than His own. Does anyone know of this story?

u/Erfeyah posted this question on several aspects of the convo with Sean Carroll, but I was taken with a specific part of it where Sean Carroll is quoted as saying that science has "done away" with cause and effect (not that it's not useful, but that it's not fundamental).

I am struck by the idea of physics removing cause as a fundamental part of the world. As someone with a background in physics but who now works in simulation of complex human systems (public health etc) I find this very interesting,

I have a few new-in-box phones that are locked to t-mobile, according to the IMEI. I phoned a rep to find out how to unlock them and was told there are 2 requirements.

  1. Phones must be on the t-mobile network for at least 40 days.
  2. The original account holder must be contacted so t-mobile can find out if they own any money on these phones.

I get that people can get phones for a deal and the carrier needs to make sure they get their money for the phones. But wouldn't the t-mobile rep be able to tell this just from the imei number? I got these phones from someone who buys and sells in bulk, so it's impossible to get the original account holder. The imeis all look clean but the t-mobile re

The accomplishments of the previous series of Plans—particularly the last Five Year Plan—could not have occurred without a tremendous advance in the teaching work. An important dimension of this work is the capacity to engage in conversations on spiritual themes, a capacity which was explored in our message to your 2015 conference, where we described how it is developed through participation in institute courses and by gaining practical experience. It is evident that the pattern of activity unfolding

According to Dan McClellan, the idea of the trinity is not in the Bible. The idea is more that Jesus "manifests" God, so to see Jesus is to see God. Sounds like something I've heard before ;)

I've been on a McClellan kick the last week or so. It's interesting to see the modern critical scholarship on the Bible and makes me happy that it's relatively easy to accept these as a Baha'i given that the Baha'i teachings

revolve around the fundamental principle that religious truth is not absolute but relative, that Divine Revelation is progressive, not final. www.bahai.org/r/609410782
