This is a PSA for those thinking of joining the beta program for WebOS 25 for the LG OLED G2/C2 that launched today. On firmware version 33.21.41 there appears to be a bug that stops the TV from automatically matching the dynamic range and framerate of content, meaning the TV will not automatically switch into Dolby Vision or HDR10 modes when playing content of that type.

I am using a 3rd gen AppleTV 4K, and I can confirm that on the previous WebOS 24 firmware update matching dynamic range and frame rate worked perfectly fine. That said, if you put the TV into Dolby Vision mode full-time, it appears like matching dynamic range will still match SDR content, but not the other way around. I ge

I’ve recently started playing Enshrouded, and now that I’m about 25 hours in, I’ve formed some thoughts on the hotbar system, and how it could be improved.

🔧 Issues with the Current System

My main criticism of the hotbar is its lack of persistence and deliberateness. Two major frustrations stand out:

  1. Unwanted Item Placement: When my bags are full, items often get automatically added to random hotbar slots. This treats the hotbars like overflow storage rather than a deliberate toolset. It’s frustrating because I keep my hotbar layout intuitive and muscle-memorized, and random additions force constant reorganization.
  2. Item Disappearance on Use: When I use up a consu

I'm really liking Shadows, but one of my favorite innovations in the franchise since Origins was the addition of the free climbing mechanic. It was extremely fun and engaging for me to climb up anything and everything, and watching Kassandra find hand holds in a cliff face was super impressive. While I understand their rationale for removing it, it still feels like a downgrade.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I truly loved that feature, and it made these games stand out from other open-world games.

Also, I've heard reviewers criticizing the free climbing mechanic in past titles, saying things like "you could unrealistically climb smooth marble walls", but was that ever the case? In Od

I read through the patch notes, and there was no mention of any engine improvements. And while I'm probably imagining things, the textures seem to be noticeably a lot sharper today than previously. Notably, grass textures seem far less shimmery.

I remember them mentioning switching to the new BC7 texture format with the DX11 transition, and afaik they've already been using BC7 for SOTO and Janthir content. At the time they mentioned not being sure if they would be backporting it to older content, but maybe they did? Or maybe this is something else entirely, not limited to me actually going nuts.

Anywho, sorry if I'm wrong and imagining things. Cheers.

I love this game, and it has wonderful and amazing strengths that no other game right now comes close to. That being said, the Zhaitan encounter in the final chapter of the game is a low point and is one of the most embarrassingly anti-fun parts of this game or any modern mmo.

I did this fight solo many months ago, and I remember hating it and it nearly leading me to put the game down for good, as that was my first play through and I hadn't yet seen how great the game is in the expansions and living world seasons. Likewise, my wife just got to this part of the story, and knowing how poor my experience was trying to solo this encounter, I offered to accompany her so that she (hopefully) woul

Hello Everyone,

My Lenovo Z13 has a weird quirk where after resuming from sleep the WiFi speed would be unbearably slow, even with excellent signal strength. However, upon putting the machine quickly into airplane mode and back, the subsequent re-connection would then be at the correct speed. I've tried many things to resolve it, but recently I read that using iwd as my networkmanager backend, as opposed to wpa_supplicant, could potentially resolve this issue.

Surprisingly, it totally does! Using iwd seems to fix that particularly annoying issue, and NetworkManager seems to work exactly the same as before as far as I can tell. There is a new quirk introduced however, which is that WPA3 do

Hey all,

I just got to the Janthir region, and I noticed my FPS plummet almost immediately after arriving to the Lowland Shore. I was able to trace this framerate drop to shadows. At 'ultra' quality, my FPS would drop to ~70fps while in the open world, but after lowering shadows one notch to "high' my FPS jumps to ~120fps. So a drop of ~50fps from going to high to ultra shadow quality. This isn't something I saw elsewhere in the game, and up until now I have been able to run with shadow quality set to ultra with >150fps, though I did notice the fps getting worse and worse throughout SotO zones as well, just not nearly to this degree.

What makes it even stranger is that while lowering th

My G2 just got the WebOS 24 update, and in the notes it said it was coming with Chromecast functionality. However, unless I'm blind, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to work. None of my apps or android phones show the TV as a castable device, unlike my upstairs Vizio as well as my smart speakers.

I've owned very generation of Chromecast dongle, so I know how they're supposed to work. Likewise, I've made sure the TV is on the same WiFi network as our phones. Do I have to turn some hidden setting on to get it to work?

The closest I've found is Airplay in the LG Hub, but that's it. I can also cast to the YouTube app on the TV, but specifically only YouTube content.
