Alexander Lukashenko, I name you a pretender! Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is the true ruler of Belarus, as recognized by myself and the people.
twitter.com/Tsihanouskaya/status/149758370603...Hi, I'm a grad student with a long commute, which sometimes necessitates me waking up really early in the morning. Is there a good place I could nap on campus before my trip home?
Times: Tu 8:30-10:30p, Sa 7-9p EST LF: 1 DPS (except RPR, MCH, or SMN)
Eric Sandwicheaters is a new group (founded 3 weeks ago!) looking to clear P4S and then farm it. We're currently at P2S 1% but would be willing to take someone not that far along in the tier. Let's have some fun and get our money from Dracula!

I think folks interested in combinatorics or harmonic analysis might enjoy the lecture series of Tim Gowers for the upcoming term, which is attached at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0V_nc0ZwCJ0 His reasoning for posting it online, despite having the opportunity to hold it in-person, is present at https://twitter.com/wtgowers/status/1482778889424449539
I'm not too sure what the prerequisites will be. Personally, I've been lately interested in the relationship between combinatorics and harmonic analysis, but I know very little combinatorics, so I've very excited for these lectures.

In this post I want to talk about one of the basic ideas in the analysis of PDE: weak solutions.
(This post grew out of a Quick Question I had, and didn't get a response to beyond u/grothendieck1 responding that they had the same question. It's also something of a response to the recent discussion about whether algebraic geometry is particularly prone to revolutions -- the use of low-regularity solutions seems like a comparable development in the analysis of PDE.)
When one studies differential equations it quickly becomes apparent that restricting to analytic or even smooth functions is just not feasible. A few examples:
- Pretending that the Dirac delta "function" is actually a function
Over the course of the past few years I've observed how online resources like the nLab and the Stacks Project seem to greatly benefit the algebra community. The Stacks Project has been so successful that it has inspired myriad other algebraic knockoffs, including Kerodon and ega.fppf.site. One also sees lots of productive discussion on MathOverflow, which seems to be mainly populated by algebraists and logicians. As for analysts, well, we have the comments section of Terry Tao's blog...
Concurrent to all this, about a year ago I was studying for my prelim exams when I decided to try to write up some notes for my own use, following [Marc Rieffel's lecture notes on measure theory](https://mat
