I’m looking around on Marketplace for a new (to me) bike and I’ve more or less decided on getting a KLR. I’m noticing quite a few 2022 model year bikes for sale in my area for decent prices, but I’m wondering if it’s for a reason.

For context, I also see lots of 2008 and 2009 bikes much more than 2010+ bikes, that I’d assume have oil burning issues, hence their prevalence and low price.

Is there something wrong with bikes that make them less desirable than 2023 and newer?

I’ve got a 1996 Suzuki DR350SE that I’ve been loving. The only thing I’m very slightly disappointed with is the MPG that it gets. As of right now, it averages about 35 mpg. From everything I’ve ready, I should be expecting closer to 50 mpg

Most riding is fairly easy going grocery getting, gravel and dirt two track and occasional highway to get to the two track.

I have reasons to believe that it runs on the richer side, which would certainly hurt mpg. But I’m wondering if there might be any causes, any ideas would be great!

I’m thinking about adding a homebrew magical weapon to my next (5e) session. It would be called the “Broken Sword” for two reason that will be clear in a moment.

It will be a sword that looks very nearly broken, so much that it only does 1D4+Str. of damage. But there’s still a little bit of enchantment in it yet.

You see, it has only one swing left in it. And although it initially only has 1D4 of damage, the bearer can “charge” the sword. Every round where the bearer charges the sword, it doubles the damage output, the only catch is that the effect resets if the bearer takes damage. But otherwise does not have an upper limit.

Would you say that this is not a well balanced magical item
