I’m starting YNAB so I can finally get a handle on my month to month spending and make sure I don’t accidentally dip into my savings. I’m a big fan of the sinking funds and budgeting ahead approach, but I’m curious how I should allocate my existing savings to these sorts of categories? Should I allocate any of my savings to my sinking funds (especially “emergency” ones like car and bike repair) and let new income continue to fill, or should I start from empty and allocate my income each month to reach the target date? Also, I’ve read conflicting things about allocating income replacement funds (in cases of sudden job loss), some argue for it and others argue that it’s not necessary in YNAB.

Thinking about picking up a Game Pass subscription and I see there's a bunch more games available in HDR this year. Can I get HDR through YouTube or Amazon Prime or do I have to shell out for the 12 month DAZN contract?

I received a large life insurance payout after my mother passed in 2023, which I partly used to max out a stocks & shares ISA that September in ETF holdings (oops). What makes my situation fun is that, since I opened my stocks & shares I've made three large sales: one to change holdings to a 100% equity fund, one to change to a different fund after my new job barred me from holding an account with my previous broker, and one to sell everything after I was informed by an advisor about the PFIC trap. All three sales were made at a profit, which seems to further complicate reporting.

We just had an incident on our server where a “bot” spammed a ton of gore and other offensive images, since which we have locked the server down. Before the lockdown, even after banning the user id of the bot via Carl, the bot continued to send messages. Since there is no webhook and the messages stopped once we stopped users being able to view all channels, I assume it’s a user app causing this issue. We’ve obviously now removed the ability of all users to use external apps, but is there a way to work out which user was spamming our server via the app so we can ban them?

Hi everyone! Just had my first dose of Concerta XL 18mg today and it's been very odd. I had a coffee about an hour after my dose as I didn't want caffeine withdrawal symptoms to conflict with the Concerta. The coffee + Concerta made me extremely jittery and anxious, but after that went away I've spent the rest of today just feeling incredibly spaced out. I feel like I've probably spent close to 1/3 of today just staring into space or staring at videos playing in front of me. Been trying to clean up around my flat for a party later, I can go for bouts of about 20 min before I end up crashing on my sofa.

EDIT: Apparently, the issue does not occur when you have Japanese voices turned on. I can also confirm that upgrading my CPU to an 8-thread processor (i7-7700K) solved the issue.

A new fix has also been reported if the Japanese voice fix doesn't work or if you want to use English voices, involving setting CPU core affinity in Task Manager, reported here.
