We recently moved one of our production databases from a physical to virtual host. This is a Windows 2003 box running SQL Server 2005 enterprise (I know). We have Physical Address Extension (PAE) and Address Web Extension (AWE) enabled on this box. The OS is the same, but the virtual host has been given 64 GB of ram, while the physical had 32GB. In terms of SQL Server the buffer pool has been assigned 54GB (vs 24GB on the previous host).
There have been reports that some things are running slowly on the new server. We have Foglight Performance Investigator for SQL Server, and looking at the workload through there I can see there are a number of reports that are showing high "memory" use. L
My company has 2 nodes in an availability group (SQL Server 2012 Enterprise on Windows 2012 R2) which have been configured with the "wrong" collation (we migrated to this setup from another data centre which had different server collation). This has led to predictable issues with stored procedures which have been circumvented by adding in COLLATE DATABASE_DEFAULT where appropriate.
Now, I would like to change the server collation to that which it was previously so someone doesn't have to remember/fix the collation whenever these SPs are changed by our devs. I intended to do this by:
- Creating a new node and installed SQL Server with the desired collation.
- Add the node into the availabil
tl;dr: Pretty much what it says in the title.
We're currently in the process of moving a number of databases from one instance (default) to another (named). There are a number of people in the bussines (and other systems) that have connection strings to these databases, so to lessen the impact of this move I was following the advice here.
I can now connect to the instance with the old servers' host name, but with windows authentication I get the error caused Kerberos authentication not working as the principal name is incorrect. Can I run setspn online without impacting the stuff c
I have loved WoW for many years. I have not played it ("properly") that much in recent years, but I still think of it as the greatest game ever made, and I cherish many memories that were made while I was playing (primarily Vanilla, TBC, and WotlK). I still play games with a number of my old guildies.
Throughout the time I was super active on WoW there were a number of videos that made a lot of noise in the community. I just thought it would be nice to share some of them for nostalgias sake. Please, post videos that you personally have loved related to WoW!
These are a few of my favourites that I can remember off the top of my head, there's not many but I'm sure many will say they are clic
I'm in - orthe oft discussed "accidental DBA" position at my company and undertaking my first significant bit of work in implementing Replication between two sites (one on premise and one hosted). Both are SQL Server 2012.
My plan was to have a peer-to-peer solution as that seemed to fit with what we wanted (near real time updates and updating at multiple sites - 2 for now but with the idea that this may grow [also have a DR requirement and i thought 3 node peer-to-peer would be a good solution for that] - being the main 2).
My main issue is that the vast majority of tables i'm being asked to replicate all include identity columns as primary keys; most keys are also foreign keys in other t
Apologies in advance in case this becomes a rambling mess....
Today I was installing a 5th instance on a 2 node cluster. On completion of the install on the first node I had some errors and as a result it suggested, and I opted, to go for an uninstall of the new instance. I followed the same steps as you can see here which reported a success. The problem is that I am now unable to connect to the 2 (of 4) instances that were running on the node on which I did the uninstall. I have failed one of those instances over to the second node and it still didn't work. I can ping based on the instance name, and I did fail back to
It costs 700g and gives you 5gp/10 or 30/min, meaning it takes 23:20 to break even on the item and then I will essentially earn 4 sight wards every 10 minutes I have it. Also if you are rushing philo you put yourself behind on a sightstone rush. Sightstone (simplified) gives you 2 wards every 3 minutes so 50g/min, a lot more than philo. Finally when people are rushing philo they often start something like 3 wards faerie charm/rejuv bead + a couple of pots (or some similar variation), putting them behind in vision early when compared to someone who goes full consumables.
You still see this recommended in most support guides and LCS casters always say things like "he's going to be able to buy
Relative Unix newbie here; I'm sending an email from an HP-UX box that needs to include an attachment. This is what I've got working at the moment:
(uuencode file file.txt;echo "Your file, Conflab") | mail [email protected]
I've looked through the man page for mail and there's no mention of a subject there. When I try using mailx the encoding part of the email fails and the body of the email starts with what I guess is the start of the program, and no attachment.
begin 664 {filename}
jargon in here
end
"body"
Anyone know a solution? Thanks.
Edit: solved by switching to mailx and using a -m to stop the issue with the encoding.
