I got my copy from Amazon today. The shipping envelope wasn't even sealed, and the case was completely crushed, the cellophane ripped open. The cartridge, by some miracle, appears ok, I played it for about 5 minutes just to see what would happen, and it seemed fine. I processed the return with Amazon, and of course the only option was a refund, no exchange. I'm kind of glad now that I ordered another copy from Video Games Plus (that I hope is legit, fingers crossed; I only ordered from them because Amazon was taking forever to ship), but I'm waiting to make sure it shows up before sending the copy I have in my hands back. I was hoping for the option of a partial refund and keeping the game,

The political news is coning fast and furious, and making my anxiety rear its ugly head, so I've been not so on track the last couple of days (I'm an emotional eater, and fast food is one way that I cope), but one thing I did do last night was "shop" my parents' house (which used to be my grandmother's) for some new (to me) plates and bowls.

I've been using a set of melamine for a long time, and had read about how it was bad for hot food, since plastic off-gasses when it's hot. I never used them in the microwave, but even just putting hot food in/on them can do it. So I decided to get some real plates and dinner bowls, but I didn't want to spend the money. My grandma was a yardsale shopper

I've bought WAY too much stuff this month, and some of it could maybe be justified, but mostly not. I had to go to WalMart twice, which I never shop at, because of elderly family members needing things on an emergency basis (my mother in law needed jumper cables, and my grandfather needed space heaters when his furnace stopped working, each time was at night after other stores had closed), but I also bought $45 worth of used books, and when my mother in law was in the hospital for a few days unexpectedly this week, we ate out for lunch instead of just going home, which only would have taken us a few extra minutes of travel time each way, and I bought a cross stitch kit from etsy that was on

I only have two prescriptions, plus allergy medicine and B12 as recommended by my endocrinologist. But even with such few meds, I have a hard time remembering to take them consistently.

Reasons why it's helpful:

The reminders are audible yet brief, so I don't rage-dismiss them, and they automatically keep reminding me every ten minutes or so until I mark the medication as taken, or "skip" it (and choose a reason why it's skipped). Also, I take one of my prescriptions every ten days, and the B12 twice a week, and I had a hard time finding an app that let me choose such an odd schedule that was also fairly intuitive. Also, I can choose the sound it makes. The original sound is a shaking pi

I recently ordered a few things from Target, and I received a notification that my package had been delivered today. I was feeling anxious because it wasn't at my door or near the mailbox. The mailman came and went, and never dropped off a box (I had thought maybe he'd scanned it as delivered before actually delivering it, which has happened before). When I checked the delivery notification again, I noticed that it was my mom's address in the message, and remembered that somehow her address had been set as the preferred one in my Target account (which I have tried several times to change, but for some reason it never "takes"). I texted her that a package had been sent there by mistake, and s

I'm doing an NCIS rewatch, and this was tonight's fare. I'm guessing Jack Bernstein (the writer of the episode) is a fan. Beyond the title, there are characters named Darin Spotnitz, Morgan, and Wong. And a guy dressed up like an alien.

I am also reminded during my rewatch just how strong the first season of NCIS was, much like The X-Files. Fun times.

When I began my last rewatch last year, I found Agent Elmo on tumblr. Her main focus was MSR, but her analysis is pretty comprehensive, and also super funny. As a shipper, it's heaven, but she only did the first twelve episodes of the first season, stopping right before "Beyond the Sea" (tragic!) because apparently the end of the reboot really upset her and made her abandon the project.

I have also found Doux Reviews to be entertaining, but that collection of reviewers, while they can be very insightful, don't really do any deep dives into all aspects of the episodes.

And then there's The Nitpicker's Guide for X-Philes, which is fun, but the author really only points out plot holes, incon

Checking others' experience with this... I signed up last June with an offer of $10/mo for 12 months. When my membership ends this June, can I cancel it and join up with a new promo offer while keeping all my info? There's no reason to pay full price for WW when they are constantly having all these discounts, but will they let you do it that way? Thanks in advance. Happy New Year!!

I signed up for WW back in June, waited a week to start (so I could get a few recipes planned out), then started, and did really well for a month and a half, lost about 5 lbs.

Then for some reason, I jumped off the wagon and fell HARD. I went back to my old ways and then some. Like it's a free-for-all. And I wasn't starving myself, I was doing what you're supposed to do and fill up on the zero point foods and whatnot, and use points to add grains, fat and flavor. But suddenly all the stuff I was eating seemed gross to me, and I couldn't put it in my mouth. Like low fat vanilla yogurt with granola and fruit just absolutely turned my stomach. And I loved it in the beginning! I would eat cott

Celebrating Success

I have been thinking about (read: hyperfocusing on) going back to my old job around the beginning of next year. The reason I've been so hyperfocused on it is because I know I'll make more money, and some of my financial problems will go away. But I CAN'T go back before then, because I'm upside down on PTO at my current job until the end of the year.

My old job has a fairly wonky schedule which caused me some problems in terms of cleaning/exercising/meal planning routines, and even with the more consistent schedule I work now, I still haven't had the mental energy to sit myself down and try to figure it out. But I finally did make a list of objectives I want to get done before the end of the

I spent the last three days not caring what I ate because of a family emergency, but now that it's over, I just took a few minutes to track everything. I'm at -11 weeklies, but real life happens. I'm going to take maybe a day to decompress, and tomorrow I will get back on track. I keep reminding myself that WW is a tool for me to use. It doesn't have to rule my life.
