abc7news.comI'm curious what the general strategy or organizational framework is at most companies for deciding on a product or series of products to go after. If the next class of products is going to cost tens of millions of dollars or more to develop, how does your company decide on which bets to place?
My previous company was a startup, and most of the product decisions were made by the board of directors and the CSO.
My current company is an established / publicly traded biotech and that is definitely not how decisions get made here, it's a bit more disorganized. So I'm curious how things normally go.
A related question, since most of us at least started off as scientists, is how do you feel
My lab wants to create simple tools (typically Streamlit or Shiny) that our collaborators in the wet lab can use, but we're not sure the best way to host them.
I'm not talking about anything compute-heavy like a bioinformatics pipeline, but more like calculators and stuff that could be run locally. These are things that shouldn't have to be hosted on EC2 instances, but we also don't want the wet lab users to have to install things.
We can't share the apps on publicly available resources because of IP issues, so I think that rules out community cloud resources, but correct me if I'm wrong.

reddit.com/gallery/1dykgt6I don't want to spoil it further but I don't understand what I just saw. First place, ok, she's nuts. But second place? What a performance. And not to mention third place (actually my favorite runner right now men or women) who set a PR, coming out of nowhere? What a race. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0i3nQ52_FwU
I was reviewing tournament results and I found one guy with a USCF rating of 2000 and another with a rating of 1500, both older players, ratings haven't changed with their recent wins/losses over time. I also looked at the top ranked players in the US and there were several at exactly 2200. Does your rating just get fixed to a round number when you hit a certain age? I tried googling but couldn't find an answer. Thank you.
Starting at around 16:05, Jakob Ingebrigtsen absolutely toys with the field in the qualifying round. Enjoy.
