Hey all,

So I've been doing my best to hit 40g fiber and <10g saturated fat. Honestly, the former has proven to be more difficult than the latter...that's so much food! I'm routinely getting to around 30, maybe 35 on a good day, so I'm not super far off, but I'm finding it ends up coming to portions.

I'm not a large person. I'm a 5'0, 140lb woman trying to get my LDL in check. Am I eating the amount of fiber a big man would need? I'm not currently counting calories but thinking perhaps I should, and find some formula of fiber grams to calories or something.

Idk. Any other people here have this challenge? Is the answer just knock back shots of chia seeds?

I tried searching and couldn't find a good answer online, so I thought I'd ask here and see what your experiences are.

I went for bloodwork in early June and my results showed an LDL level of 187. I'm 34F, btw, and everything else in my panel was in the normal range. But obviously, 187 LDL is super high, so I aggressively changed up my diet within the following days.

My husband thinks my result was elevated because I didn't know to fast before the test. I'd eaten a breakfast sandwich (egg and cheese w. some veggies on toast) maybe two hours prior to the test. He thinks that renders my results void, I think maybe it might've elevated them somewhat, but that's still a very high result so r

Hey all, I'm not quite sure if my parents technically classify as narcissists, but some of their behaviors match things I've seen in this sub.

There's one in particular that I'm not sure if this is a weird quirk, or if it's part of a bigger behavior pattern:

Whenever I mention something I thought was cool or interesting, they suggest that said thing was fake or scammy in some way. Here's the most recent example: I went on a nature hike led by a bat expert, specifically to see bats. The hike leader brought a small electronic device that captures the bats' echolocation sounds and brings them down to a frequency humans can hear, so we could know if there were bats in the area. So I was tell

How can I make my vacation less awful for my cat? I'm kind of worried. I'll be gone for two weeks and have somebody stopping by the house each day to feed her, change her water and hang out with her, but she's a very very social cat and she gets a bit bothered whenever I'm gone for shorter periods.

So...what do you all do when you have to leave your cat for a prolonged period?

Apparently they taste like vanilla ice cream. They're also quite rare in the USA. But with all the specialty food retailers we have in NJ, maybe I can find them here?

If you've ever had one, I'd love to hear about your experience eating it. And if you know where I can find them in NJ, please let me know!

When I've opted out of holiday gift-giving, I've gotten the two responses in the title quite a bit. At first, I didn't think much about it, but the more I think about it, the more they frustrate me because

-it frames the giver's wants/needs as more important than mine. As in, I should just chill and let people buy me things because those people enjoy gifting. When I say I don't enjoy receiving, that doesn't matter. But when others enjoy giving, that matters and takes precedence.

-numerous family members have bought me things after I explicitly told them not to. In fact, I've even told those same family members that if they really need to spend money on me, I'd like something consumable, l

My husband's nut and legume allergies make it difficult for us to go completely plant-based, but difficult doesn't mean impossible.

So what are your favorite vegan recipes that don't include tree nuts or legumes? I know I could google, but I want people's thoughts an opinions. What are your go-to proteins? Is there a way to make a vegan mac n cheese without cashew or almond milk? We both want to move in a more vegan direction, but this has been a tough hurdle....there's only so much vegetable curry we can handle.

(he's okay with processed soy, like tofu. Soybeans themselves are a no-go.)

thanks, all! I'm looking forward to deliciousness :)

Basically the title. I've got two sage plants, one pineapple sage and one golden pineapple sage, that absolutely popped off this summer. So now I've got sage for DAYS.

Yes I already gave handfuls to everybody I know. My entire social circle is fixed for fruity sage for the next year, haha.

I'll probably dehydrate a bunch and make some tea blends. But if anybody else has a good idea, I'd love to hear it.

Can somebody walk me through exactly what this means? I hear/see it quoted quite frequently, but...and please excuse my ignorance...an individual taxpayer doesn't pay more federal taxes for being in NJ. So this means we, as a whole population, produce more taxable income than we receive in federal support, right? Or is there a piece I'm missing?

Like I want to be as mad about it as everybody else, but in order for me to be mad about something, I need to understand it.
