Hey, commercial photog mainly shooting lifestyle but also some events.

Am I missing something or have a strange setting applied, that it can take longer for Capture One's ingest page to go through and exclude duplicates from a card, than it even did to import them in the first place?

It means that if you're looking to quickly import incrementally, you need to leave it whirring away for a while - and you can't even hit 'ingest all' until it's finished checking for duplicates. Really annoying and doesn't work at all if you need to (say) turn around one picture super quickly.

It's crippling for running cards or editing when I shoot events - I've had to go back to ingesting with photomec

I’m setting off in the Lon Las Cymru, camping, tomorrow and the weather is… not looking as beautiful as it has been the last couple of weeks.

Any great tips or bits of life-improving kit for up to fairly heavy prolonged showers of rain? I’ve got overshoes already, and we’ve a generous 6 days so can burn the odd few hours sheltering in a cafe if needed…

I’m an experienced Scottish winter mountaineer so v used to expedition life with wet kit, but any advice very welcome!

Hi,

I’m in a high rise block, council owned, I’m leaseholder. At direction of council to comply w the new 2022 rules, I finally found a contractor to fit a new front door, which in his quote he stated ‘FD30s door … in accordance with bs8214 and in accordance with BS476 P22 1987 local and national fire safety standards’.

On survey he looked at the existing wood frame and said that leaving it would be superior to a new one.

Council surveyor came and hadn’t even entered before saying he couldn’t sign off the door as it had been fitted in the existing frame.

The door’s Warrington fire test certificate from Warrington fire describes measurements for a ‘hard or soft wood frame’ which my frame

Ugh so EICR is in, not entirely unexpected but insulation resistance on the 50 year old cables in my newly purchased flat is entirely shot, so I need a full rewrire. Quite a few of the walls are concrete with plaster - so basically trunking and surface boxes are going to be my life now, ugh. There goes my nice plans for smart minimalist matte black sockets - but on the plus side I can of course have them where I want.

Not doing ceiling lights because absolutely not having gross trunking running into the middle of the ceiling. Using kinetic light switches to remove the need for some there, too.

I’ve got a really good electrician so he’ll be advising and keeping everything as neat as possib

Hi, I'm replacing the old storage heaters in my flat with electric radiators - and a big part of keeping that a good investment is being able to have smart control.

The only electric radiators I can see on the market are the Rio ones, and they have a very limited range and I don't like the style.

The radiators I'm looking at connect to the SmartLife app - am I correct in thinking I should be able to have decent control (automations, scheduling, simple remote control, and thermostat with a seperate homekit compatible temperature sensor) through homekit, between Homebridge / Tuya plugin?

The more obvious alternative, to simply put a shelly or similar, and use non-smart heating elements, ann
