Hello all.

So, have an old HP pavilion laptop - everything is staggeringly slow - and using it for OB is just rough.

Intel Core i3; 6100U; Win 10 Home 64-bit; HD Graphics 520; 4 GB RAM

I put in a SSD and was considering either using ChromeOS or a lightweight flavor of unix or something - as this thing is ancient. It works out a lot better than my main desktop rig (we game in living room using OB for digital maps etc.).

Any suggestions on OS for older laptop just to run OB on?

(when I say run - means running chrome, and going to OB site to show and interact with assets created with OB - I am not talking about a server or anyting - just using OB on chrome.)

Very dissatisfied with the First contact quest - especially given how influential (eventually) the main character can get...

I won't go into all the reasons here or write a paragraph about possible solutions (quest modding is very messy - so have not attempted it in starfield). Just trying to see if there are any mods out there for less

So I have done a few searches in various places (nexus, here, creations) I have not been able to find mods which offer more satisfying alternatives.

Does such a mod exist and I missed it?

(no, not looking for wishlists on fixing it - looking for a mod that actually does so).

So, my GalacticJunkRecycler is somehow missing Venpicore.esm.

The nexus page is hidden for some reason, and my Starfield can't connect to creations to get it from there.

On PC - can't figure a way to get this missing file.

Any suggestions?

So, Played a bit of starfield on Xbox, and it was fairly easy to see the mineral deposits you can pick up with the cutter while scanning - they usually were outlined or glowed when nearby, and you just use the cutter on them.

HOWEVER - Recently got the game for PC - and they are almost impossible to see or find - even the ones in the starting area.

Is there some setting on PC to make it easier to see the surface rocks?

Note: I am NOT talking about the underground ones you need to build outpost mining for - but the common rocks (aluminum, iron etc.) that you use the cutter on.

Question for fellow GM's and Players - If you were to (re)organize the rules - WHERE would you put droid and cybernetics information and attachments etc. This would be about 6-8 pages of content, or a little more. Rules on droid characters, upgrades, and cybernetics - etc.

A) in the overall equipment section?

B) in a species section, with the rules on any species with special abilities?

C) or in a dedicated section unto themselves (Droids & Cybernetics)?

NOTE: I am not asking FOR CONTENT - I have content - about 250 pages of it - asking for thoughts on organization, this is for a house rule edition. my groups 3.0 - here is the list of chapters for context;

Experienced user, have had printer for over a year, printed well over a dozen spools etc.

No ams, updated firmware, regularly cleaned etc.

What happened.

A while ago, got an error of the part fan not working - checked connections etc. (also could see it was not spinning - have painted a dot on it).

  • Did a test of increasing temp to over 50c to see if it would start - did not.
  • Powered off for hours, tried again. Checked connections - all solid etc.
  • Ordered replacement front assembly (Front Housing Assembly - X1 Series) as it was cheap and easier to replace.

Replaced - and still won't come on -

Sadly - this sounds like it is not getting the signal to turn on (unlikely the r

New OPR player here, experienced wargamer.

Do bonus granting effects/spells expire on the end of the round if not used?

Specially, had a game where one unit was granted the "Take Aim" bonus of ;

Take Aim: Once per this unit's activation, before attacking, pick one friendly unit within 12”, which gets +1 to hit next time it shoots.

But what if the unit receiving the bonus, does not shoot this round?

(either by being shaken before activating, or during activating they charge or rush?)

Does it last until they use it next round or later?

How do most people model their squadrons?

Tiny models flat on a base.

Tiny models each elevated on a base. (battlefleet gothic style)

Tiny models on a tree like stand, mounted to a base (armada style).

A base with just a number or symbol on it.

So, while I love that OPR is model independent - sometimes I do want to know what a particular unit (or even faction) is supposed to map to an existing model.

I could swear I had read that a guide existed - but could not find one.

Suggestions?

SO, working on putting together fleets for Warfleets - my group will more than likely be using the bigger square bases - as we have a lot of star wars Armada sized ships.

But that got me wondering - what do most people use - and I am guessing it is to match the relative size of their ships?

Trying to figure out the use of this upgrade;

Run Deck

Friendly squadrons ending their activation within 12“ may move directly towards this ship by up to their move speed.

So -- if for some reason you wanted to recall your fighters to come protect a ship? Or put this on a fast ship to help flank fighters? Trying to figure out how this would tactically be used?

Thank you for any answers.

Set up - using in person game, and casting to a big tv (set up does not really support using it as an external monitor).

Overall works great! however, trying to figure out how to get sound (music playing with tracks extension) on the cast?

Could not find anything on how to get sound to work with the casting?

(again, physical layout does not support hooking tv directly to chromebook).

Called Shots - What do you do?

Do you have house rules for a character targeting an opponent's WEAPON, with the intent of shooting it to disarm?

if so - what is the increase in difficulty to hit a Rifle, Carbine or Pistol?

REUP has a Called Shots rule - which is from D6Space (and other versions). It really only has two difficulties; a +1D for things bigger than 10cm, and +4D for things smaller than 10cm.

I feel that the range from +1D to +4D is not very smooth...

I was thinking called shot to hit an opponent weapon (trying to get them to drop it).

+1D for a rifle, +2D for carbine or similar, +3D for a pistol, and +4D for a comlink.Your thoughts?

I love my wham bam plates on my previous printers (mars, sat2, sat 3) - as for me it makes it 10 times easier to just take off the plate and extract the minis from there etc. Less dripping everywhere, removing large prints etc.

The saturn 4 has the auto leveling spacers/spring things - I am curious if anyone has any problems with a wham bam on it?
