Retiring this setup, but so much life left in this hardware!

Changed up my setup, so all this gear is unused.

*x1 QNAP TVS-h1688X NAS. It came with a Xeon W-1250 CPU and 32GB RAM (2 x 16GB), but currently has a Xeon W-1290P CPU and 128GB RAM (4 x 32GB) installed. I have the original CPU/RAM and am thinking it would be best to put those back in, and sell the upgrades separately.

* x8 18TB HC550 HDDs, still have ~1 to 1.5yr warranty on them, and should be around 25-30k POH.

* x1 QNAP QM2-4P-384A Quad M.2 PCIe card

* x4 Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB M.2 NVMe drives -- 20-25k POH I believe

* x1 Nvidia Quadro P1000

* x1 Supermicro 1U server -- CSE-512 chassis, X10SLH-F board, E3-1230v3 CPU, 32GB (4 x 8GB) ECC UDIMM RAM, x1 256GB SSD and 2 480

I like to think of myself as a Plex power user, and love using Plex/Plexamp for music; Sonic Analysis is awesome, I just need more Plex friends to use DJ Friendganger with! :D

I have a pretty specific audio stack, and scrobbling Plex listens to ListenBrainz is part of that, which allows ListenBrainz to generate some curated playlists.

I vibe coded a python-based docker app that will pull the tracklist from your ListenBrainz Weekly Exploration history and generate a json list of artist IDs that can be set as an Import List in Lidarr. The app will then create the 3 "curated-for" playlists from ListenBrainz into your Plex; Weekly Jams, Daily Jams, Weekly Exploration.

Tubifarry adding the ability to change the metadata server URL is a game changer, and thought I'd share my notes as I went through standing up my own musicbrainz mirror with blampe's lidarr metadata server. It works fine with my existing lidarr instance, but what's documented is for a new install. This is based on Debian 12, with docker. I've not fully walked through this guide to validate, so if anyone tests it out let me know if it works or not and I can adjust.

Hi all, been a while since I've posted here.

So long story short, I've made some lab changes and trying to decide the best expansion path. For the longest time, I had the following setup:

  • QNAP TVS-h1688X (Xeon W-1250, 128GB RAM, 12 18TB drives in ZFS Raid60-ish setup, 4 2TB M.2 NVMe in ZFS Raid10) | All in one box; storage shares for family, docker host (typical Plex/arr/immich, and more -- ~50 containers at any given time), occasional VMs but mostly just containers
  • Supermicro 1U (E3-1230v3, 32GB RAM) | "Core" server, running dockers like vaultwarden, dns, unifi controller, homeassistant, joplin sync, etc -- if I had a power outage, I'd leave this server up with my network stack

Moved recently, and pulling wires in the new place. House is a rectangular ranch on basement, and each level is about 1500sq ft. Concrete/brick exterior, stock/drywall interior.

I move here with 2 U6-Pro from my previous place, and those are going on the main level, opposite ends of the house (one in the hallway outside the bedrooms; other in the living room, toward the front of the house). I’m pulling a wire for a third AP in the basement ceiling, centered in the house. Should I just buy another U6-Pro and call it a day, or do I go with a U7-Pro-Max? Reviews on the U7 stuff are meh, but I like that it has a 2.5GbE uplink. Do I need that for WiFi basement clients? No…but future proof.

I apologize for asking something that's been asked before, but I notice a trend any time zwave gets mentioned (get a Hubitat). Long story short, I have been out of home automation for a while. Like, 2017 was when I stopped using Home Assistant, and since then I've standalone IoT devices (TP-Link/Tapo, Kwikset Halo, GE Cync, etc), but I have a drawer full of z-wave gear and looking to get back into things.

Z-Wave is my protocol of choice (maybe Thread one day, but not yet), and I know for fact that I will be using Apple Home as my front-end, which has the wife-approved factor that Hass never had (IME) in the past. For Z-Wave gear, I'm definitely going with zwave-js-ui (formerly `zwave

Setting up a brand new network, pretty basic right now. Unifi UXG-Max gateway acting as a Wireguard server. LAN is 172.16.100.0/24 and Wireguard network is 172.16.150.0/24.

LAN has just a handful of devices, namely a debian 11 server, the IPMI for that server, and a couple clients. I have a laptop on a separate ISP connection, connecting successfully to wireguard, and that laptop is able to reach anything on the 172.16.100.0/24 network, except for the debian server (172.16.100.200). It's a bare debian 11 install, no firewall running, etc. I can access the IPMI of the server ([17

Long story short, I recently setup a UXG-Max at a site with fiber internet, and the ISP uses CGNAT (I didn't realize this at the time I setup new service). Called, added static IP and they gave me the info. I'm using UI Hosting for the controller, but due to the ISP updating the static on the modem, my UXG is no longer communicating with the controller so I can't set the static IP on the WAN port and re-establish connectivity.

Sucks I will have to drive 2 hours to this location tomorrow, but how will I even fix this? I guess connect to LAN and SSH to UXG? Is SSH enabled by default? What/where is a config that I will need to modify to set my static/subnet/gateway on the WAN port?

I'll try to keep this brief.

I'm currently running a USG-Pro-4 for my gateway, with a USW-Pro-24-POE as my core switch. On Starlink, so it's been plenty for me. Bought a new house, multi-gig fiber available, and signed up for the symmetrical 2gb plan, but they have a symmetrical 5gb plan also available. I probably won't go to the 5gb, but if I do I want to make sure I have gear capable. USG-Pro-4 doesn't do multi-gig, and since I can potentially exceed 2.5gb, I'm looking for a 10gbit capable gateway.

Not much a fan of the UDM series (containerized Unifi Network, I have a UNVR-4 as well), so that pretty much leaves the UXG-Pro, right?

Hi all. So I've been using SL for ~14 months now, and have always been on a Mobile - Regional plan (or RV, when it first came out). Overall it's been working well, I work from home and get 100-150 down and ~10-15 up during my work day, so I can't complain.

However in the evenings it just drops out, and I usually just switch devices to mobile and go on with my life (we also have a 25/2 ADSL backup).

Anyway, I was looking at the availability map and I'm still in a waitlist area. But about 20 miles away are 2 cells that have availability. My address was not even set in my online account, but for fun I set it to an address in that zone 20 miles away (actually my mom's address), and it

Hi all. So long story short, my wife runs a small business making memory “things” (various animals or blankets, etc from personal clothing).

She uses a Janine MC6700p for sewing and currently using a Brother PE800 for embroidery. By and large, smaller appliqués is what she primarily does but not always. The Brother she’s used for 3+ years now and always complaining that she’s hopping back and forth from her machines to change embroidery thread colors.

I want to surprise her with a multi-needle machine, and I’m looking at the Janine MB-4S. Spec-wise I think it’s exactly the upgrade she wants. But I hate the dealer model and it’s tough to get pricing. What alternatives out there should I
