Hi al! For several years I’ve been thrifting Columbia snowsuits and raincoats with good results but the past raincoats I’ve gotten were so flimsy I don’t want to make the same mistake with this year’s winter coat. I think they must have had a recent dip in quality like maybe in the past 5 years or the bigger kid stuff is cheaper OR I was just lucky with my first handful of finds.

Any advice on either a reliable brand or if someone know when/why the shift in quality so I can thrift older stuff?

I’m willing to buy new if I have to, we’re Canadian so good winter gear is a must.

Personally looking for one’s appropriate for a kindergarten age kid but it would be fun to share ideas for kids of all ages!

I used to have some saved on pinterest from before I even had my baby but they got rid of Facebook linked accounts and all those pins are gone!

Gathering/Community

Question/Poll

Hey all! I am hoping to hear from people here who have successfully created/grown their community/village. Especially people who are good at doing casual hosting! Bonus points if it’s a recurring thing.

My ideal would be to have kind of like a recurring informal gathering that is kid friendly. We live in a house but it’s relatively small/urban - no giant playroom or dedicated kids area. Anyone in a similar boat who makes it work? Any advice on hosting a mixture of families with kids and childfree adults successfully?

Thanks :)

Example: I remember I need to do a thing, I know I should write it down, but my bullet journal is elsewhere.

Has anyone found an (analog) strategy that works? Pen/paper around the house? Writing on body? Dropping what you are doing to write it down? (Dangerous).

I am open minded.

Thanks :)

Hi! I am curious about trying a bralette that's something like cotton, silk or merino but of course a lot of bralettes are SML sizing and I am a 30 F.

I would especially like something that is a little supportive, though of course bralettes are not going to be the same as a bra.

Bonus points if it's a Canadian brand or just not American (💸💸💸)

Hi all! I have a happy baby onbuhimo carrier. It only has a weight limit no height limit listed.

I have a 3 year old who is tall/skinny and under the weight limit but the carrier does not go very high on his back or all the way out to his knees. As we are walking much longer distances I want a way to carry him if he gets tired but don't really want to buy a whole toddler carrier if I don't have to.

He doesn't seem uncomfortable when I try it out and I certainly can't imagine him falling out of it any which way but am I missing something?

Cleaning techniques?

Cleaning, Organizing, Decluttering

Okay so this feels a bit silly but I feel like I never got a good sense of how to do basic cleaning? Like I am bad at sweeping? If I'm cleaning a bathroom I feel like I'm not certain on the order to do things or etc. it always feels harder than it should?

I know there's lots of how to clean resources out there but I also know there's some suspect advice and I don't want something that's trying to just sell me gadget either. Any suggestions?

Hi all! I'm looking into a small fidget or sensory toy. I'm looking for something squishy. The local toy store which I find trustworthy did have anything and I'm turned off of Amazon obviously.

For an older kid so not something to chew on.

If it's Canadian that's a bonus!

TIA :)

Hi all! Sunscreen is one area where I am not very granola. However for lip protection I want to be more cautious because realistically I'm going to be slowly eating it. I'm looking for something mineral, strong SPF, ideally non-drying, and if at all possible looks nice.

Thanks :)

ADHD and screens

Question - Research required

Hello! I am a mom with ADHD and have a young child. I have approached screens conservatively (none before 2, minimal exposure now) and if my kid ultimately does have ADHD it does not seem evident yet.

But I recently came across a claim a few times that screen exposure can be a risk factor for ADHD and I'm curious if people have information on this.

Is there convincing (or even compelling) evidence that limiting screen exposure can lower the chances of developing adhd? And if so what is the amount?

Thanks :)

Canadian Moms

Question/Poll

Anything we can do to avoid an American-style fate? I want more green spaces, clean air, clean water, smaller class sizes and and gentler safer school system. I want a society that cares about children, women, etc.

Just reaching out if others are feeling the same way. How are we coping?
