I came back to this after a year or so away... and never really played a ton before so I'm pretty new.
I had 2 questions about the game:
What's up w/ the QP matchmaking?
I've got maybe one or two champs at level 8 (mostly from a few years ago when I first tried the game)... and I'm getting stuck in games where everyone else is at level 50-80 with their characters. Mechanically it's fine, I can click on things, and generally end up with a pretty good kda... and my win rate is probably still over 50%... but people are complaining about things and... I literally don't even know what they're saying... There's obviously a huge knowledge gap which I'm sure is super annoying to folks... whi
I'm a new player (about a week) so I guess i'm not sure if I have terrible luck or if this is normal... but the number of games decided by afker's is just ridiculous. I've played about 5 or 6 games today... i think maybe one game didn't have an afker on one team or another. Today is extra bad, but it's about 50/50 on an average day it seems like.
Sometimes they are giving up, we lose a point then they just sit in spawn... other times they just start afk'ing from the very beginning. most of the time they'll spin around every once in a while so you know they're still there... a few times i'd have them in the next game too... so obviously nothing was done to stop them from re-queuing immedi
Not sure it's directly related to the 2-2-2 lock or maybe frustration w/ the current meta, but i've noticed a lot more toxicity in my qp games recently. I've noticed it in soloqueue, and while queuing w/ friends at pretty much every skill level. Is this just me, or a general trend?
I've noticed:
DPS players picking something the supports can't possibly heal (like a flanking genji when the tank support line is something like orisa/sigma/moira/baptiste) and then yell at the supports for not healing them
Tank players selecting 2 main tanks, having the tanks take different routes to point, then yelling at the team for not following them.
Torb and Sym (and Orisa who pairs well with them) have the highest win rates of all heroes across pretty much every level of skill https://www.overbuff.com/heroes (masters is an outlier, but it corrects again in GM).
Given that the general community consensus is that they're useless on offense it goes to reason that they are SO strong on defense that they more than compensate for that weakness.
Looking at the statistics Sym has a winnrate that is 60%. This is 5% higher than Torb who sits at 55%. Torb is 3% higher than Orisa at 52%. These two winnrate differences are the largest ones across the entire spectrum of characters. They are clear outliers, and in any MOBA we would by crying
So I'm think it's fair to say that there are 2 sides to every coin. About half the people hate mercy's resurrection because it erases good picks, and half of the people love it because it erases luck picks (I suppose it also has a lot to do with whether you were the one doing the picking or getting picked).
Also the new guardian angel functionality is both loved and hated because moving around with Mercy is super fun, but the flip side of that is that she's become really hard to kill.
So i have a recommendation that maybe makes everyone happy (because I think it's hard to argue that she's too strong right now). What if rezing someone costs her half her health (or maybe a flat 100 health...
