Hi

6wk1d after 3rd FET and 7 years of infertility.

Had bleeding last Monday, thought I was miscarrying, however early pregnancy scan showed healthy pregnancy with sub chorionic haematoma. Clinic advised to take it easy and provided me with a sickness absence note. Didn’t work past week. Now very unsure of shall I return to work tomorrow, doctor has not given me any specific number of days to rest. I have a repeat scan on Friday. I work in healthcare and it is super demanding. What are your experiences with SCH and rest? How long have you been off work which you think worked for you in this situation? Please help clear my thoughts.

Completely shattered, noted fresh bleed on my panty liners, half soaked, no pain no cramps.

Called clinic, earliest they can book me in for a scan is Monday, and said as I am pain free and not passing any clots, they are not concerned and it could be normal, sounds completely ridiculous to me? I have booked a private urgent scan this evening in an hour, but I am not sure what to do? I am so scared.

Early pregnancy, work amendments

Lifestyle / Interpersonal Issues

Hi

I am a resident doctor in England, I have just been able to conceive after 7 years of infertility and after 2 previously failed IVF transfers. 3rd one has been positive so far and I am waiting for my first scan.

As you can imagine, I am very anxious that if something goes wrong, I am especially scared of doing things that can put my pregnancy at risk.I have done a bit of reading and understand night shifts increase risk of miscarriage. I am planning to refer myself to OH on Monday to discuss this. Is there anything else I can do? I will ask my clinic as well but has anyone else experienced this? Is your IVF journey/ long infertility considered high risk?

BMA fee overpaid

Quick Question

Hi

I am a BMA member since 2022 and have been paying the full standard fee for last 3 years initially 29£ for a year followed by 31£ for another year and 46£ since Oct 2025. I have recently realised that my salary threshold meets for concession rates, which is around 50-60% of what I have been paying. I have contacted BMA regarding this and they have suggested they would not be able to process any claims retrospectively. I understand this was an oversight from my side however I never received any information via email regarding my fee details.

Do I have any way to recover what I have overpaid?

Strike and TOOT

Speciality / Core Training

Hi Moved from Scotland to England for training so this would be 1st round of strikes, how does it effect TOOT if we continue to have further strikes? Would we need extension if my TOOT is > 14 days due to IA? (IMT)

Resident NHS doctor, SHO level. I went to an NHS appointment as a patient hoping to get a personalised care plan. I have been waiting for this secondary care hospital appointment after initial urgent GP referral for few months. Got to see PA in said speciality on my first appointment. Pretty useless. PA Proposed a plan that I had tried 4years ago (most basic treatment for that condition) and already way ahead of that and tried many things after which didn’t work either so basically wanted to discuss my next option. I decided to go private, it was better than NHS- however after spending thousands, I was still not able to see a specialist- didn’t realise until after my appointment that doctor

Hi I am 32 F. PCOS no MFI. I had one egg retrieval with fresh transfer and another frozen transfer. Both unsuccessful. Now I have 5 embryos stored which I am going to transfer to a new clinic( I have moved places-UK based). Planning 3rd transfer. In the UK in my age group, they usually dont recommend PGT-A testing, or further endometrial biopsies at this stage, however as it is private we can go for PGT-A if we are keen for that.

What would be the best course?

  1. PGT-A as it will definitely tell me I am transferring euploid-( although HFEA research data says no increase evidence of live births with PGT-A)

  2. they say, with 3 transfers odds of having a love birth increase , so shall I jus

Hi, does applying from outside the UK reset your ILR clock even though you apply for a new visa before expiry date of the current one.Plus, your stay outside the UK is less than 180 days per calender.

Hi I am currently on student dependent tier 4 visa(husband being main applicant) who has just completed his PhD. The initial date of expiry on BRP was 31.12.24 however we received a document from his university that states his visa will be curtailed as he has finished his studies. I am working as a doctor and would switch my visa soon, so as my husband. However I have to travel out of country end of May for 3 weeks(and won't be able to switch before that and I don't want to switch outside of UK as well) . I was not sure can I travel on my current immigration status, would they allow me entry, please note we haven't received any correspondence from UKVI yet.

Hi Has anybody been successful starting a training job on a global talent dependent visa? I have got training in internal medicine starting in August however I would like to do training on a global talent dependent visa(husband being main applicant) rather than on a health and care worker visa? Has anybody done this before and are they happy to share their experience? Much appreciated.
