Demoing the Phonak Sphere, and I think I’ve found a deal breaker. Whenever a sound occurs on my phone (such as a text notification) the volume of the Bluetooth and of the hearing aids is temporarily reset to 0-0, and goes back to my setting when the sound ends. If they were muted they unmute, and do not revert when the sound ends. If the two ears are set to different levels they are set to equal levels after the sound ends.

(None of this happens if you are streaming music.)

Gemini backs me up: “You are entirely correct. Oticon handles Bluetooth audio routing differently than Phonak, which prevents the frustrating cycle of accidental unmuting.”

Usually the sky here is super bright, but for two days I feel like I’m in Jersey. What’s going on?

We recently switched from a version of nix on an ubuntu machine to a native nixos install, and in the process lost the ability to see the output of the build subprocesses - i.e. compiler messages, etc. Is there any way to bring these back? I found one post that said to set NIX_DEBUG=7 but this just outputs tons if info from the nix tools, nothing from the subprocesses.

I just realized our wall to wall carpet hasn't been replaced for twenty years, and it is terrible and maybe starting to cause allergic reactions. I know nothing about carpet and would like help figuring out what is best for our house so we can get this done ASAP - what can you tell me? Or should I go for flooring? How difficult will that be? I don't mind forking out some cash as long as the value is there.
