Music festival advice

Seeking Support/Advice

I’m headed to Aftershock in Sacramento for the whole four days and I cannot get a reply through their email or phone number about what I need to do to bring in insulin and glucose. The best result I get is an automated phone tree or a generalized email with zero answers.

If I just show up with my insulin and glucose packs in my soft side cooler (it’s lunch pail sized), are they gonna let me in?

If anyone has advice, I’m all ears.

(This feels pertinent: my fast acting insulin is Novalin which isn’t the prescription brand. Fight with the insurers, plus Novalin evidently works better for me. Point being, there’s no prescription label on my fast acting.)

Water shoes

Gear Question

We’re doing a river camping trip in a couple of weeks and my husband and I just realized that he doesn’t have a pair of water shoes and I left mine behind. We’d both rather not have to pull a fishhook out of our feet. Do you guys have any recommendations on brands? I’m mostly concerned with comfort. Something that won’t give you blisters, mainly. I had a great pair a few years ago, but I can’t for the life of me remember what brand.

My voice not recording?

❓ Question / Help

PS5

I tried looking this up to no avail. I used to be able to record all the interactions with other players, myself included, but now it just records the other players? Did I accidentally change a setting? Or is this something with the update? I can hear everyone else on playback besides me.

Jury Duty?

Question

I just got called up for federal jury duty in LA, Ca. And despite the fact that I live like 120 miles from the courthouse (I’ve appealed on that end, the only reply I got was regarding a hotel stipend) they’re still insisting. I filled out the online form and stated that I couldn’t be held in the courtroom for extended periods without checking my blood sugar (I’m on finger stick) and I would need to eat at regular intervals or be able to eat in the courtroom. Still ignored.

Have you guys dealt with this? I really don’t want to have to drive all the hell down to LA just to spend the day in jury selection and make myself bleed in front of a judge to prove my point.

I make a lot of fridge pickles; mostly cucumbers, but I love anything pickled. Hot peppers, onions, cabbage, green beans, giardiniera, etc, etc. I recently did a batch of horseradish spears, which turned out great. And one of sunomono style slices that I seasoned with sesame seeds, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. I want to try other seasoning blends that isn’t just dill and garlic. I love dill and garlic and will happily incorporate them, but I want more variety.

What are your favorite (maybe) non-traditional seasoning/spice blends for pickling? Doesn’t have to be cukes!

In the final season, when Hank goes to the bathroom at Walt and Skylar’s, why would the Walt Whitman book as a toilet read be such a revelation for him? As if Walt was the only scholar ever to read Walt Whitman? I mean, hell, my dad had all of Whitman’s works in hardback. I feel like, with Walt’s level of academia, him knowing quotes of Whitman’s work should’ve been brushed off as “Oh, this is how he knew what Gail was referring to.”

I dunno. It just feels like lazy writing to me that it would’ve set Hank off into a panic attack.
