Good morning VW mans and womans. I've recently acquired a 2006 2.5 jetta manual, for which I paid 0 dollars and 0 cents for. The car is rough but it runs and drives. I want to put it back on the road, so I'm putting used/junkyard parts on it. I want to put some GTI/GLI parts on it, almost like a resto-mod. I'm wondering if suspension/chassis parts are interchangeable between MK5 and MK6 generation Jetta and Golf. If anyone has any experience with this, your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Good morning (afternoon, evening, etc) to fellow mechanics. I'm currently a flat rate third year apprentice making $28 an hour. I'm going to be getting my license soon. I'm wondering what I should be payed when I get my license. I consistently flag between 80-100 hrs per cheque. I'm in Ontario, Canada. Thanks

Hello, I'm helping someone purchase a car and they're very insistent on buying a Mini Cooper. They're aware it's a BMW underneath so maintenance and repairs can be pricey. They just like the charm of the car. So do I, but that's besides the point. I'm looking for the simplest model: Auto (no CVT), base engine (no turbo or supecharger), hardtop, two door. Budget around 10k CAD. From what I've read online, the 2013+ seem to be the best choice, as the base engine comes with a 6 speed auto. Any help is appreciated. Bonus points for input from people who have worked on/for Mini.

Hello all, I'm looking for advice on how to install leather seat upholstery without leaving any ripples or creases. The Volkswagens I work on use hog ring clips and "J clips" on the edges. I find every time I have to replace a seat cover, I always end up with slight ripples in the upholstery. The ripples aren't huge, but are somewhat noticeable. I try my best to pull the upholstery taut, and install all the hog rings properly. I haven't had any complaints or comebacks yet, but I can't help but feel unsatisfied with the work. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to make the finish more consistent?

Hello all, recently my grandma's very reliable low km rust free (yes, ZERO rust) 2005 mazda 3 has been having an issue with the back lights in her instrument cluster. During night driving, even with the lights switched to on/auto, the backlights don't work so you cannot see the gauges. If I give the top of the dashboard a good smack or two (or three), the lights come back on and stay on. I'm assuming the cluster has a loose connection somewhere. I'm also assuming it'd an issue with the cluster itself, as the issue is exclusive to the backlights. I would like to know if anyone else has encountered this issue, and if my assumption that the instrument cluster is defective is true.

Hello all, I just replaced the AC compressor on my sister's 2006 Corolla after the bearing for the pulley went. After refilling the refrigerant, I found that the compressor clutch still isn't being actuated, and the green AC light does not turn on at all. Yes, I plugged the connector for the clutch back in. Is this replacement plug and play? Is there an initial compressor run-in to perform? Or do I need to proceed further with diagnosis?

Mk8 GTI with Prismas?

Modding Talk :TIL:

Hello all, I've been looking for some different rims for my MK8. I like my OEM Scottsdales, but I want something with a little better fitment. I really like the Prismas off the Atlas, especially since I can get some meatier tires on them, as they're 18". If anyone has put Prismas on their MK8, do you have pictures? I will also accept rim recommendations.

Hello wonderful people, my mother's 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T AWD has developed a leak at the transfer case. It looks to be from a failed axle seal, but I want to make sure it's not something else I'm overlooking before I carry out the work. Any experienced Hyundai techs familiar? Is this a common issue? Picture is attached.

Hello, I've replaced all four engine mounts on my family members 2006 corolla as it had a clunking when shifting gears and vibration at idle. After replacing, the clunking is gone. However, the car vibrates significantly more at idle, especially when the trans is in drive. I used SKP brand mounts from rock auto.

Admittedly I was in a rush to finish the job, all the mounts were tightened with a few ugga duggas then checked with a 1/2" wrench. I replaced the engine mounts one at a time so I can't imagine the engine is too misaligned from factory in the mounts. The only one I know for sure I misaligned a little was the front engine mount, where I tightened it was lower than the previous witnes
