I want my monster goblins to see in the dark, and consequently I *need* my PC goblins to also have that ability.

Balance-wise, how do it feel about changing the Goblin trait from "Can't be surprised" to Dark Adapted.

What if i threw a penalty to reaction rolls (since civilisation in my sword and sorcery setting would be leery, to outright hostile, towards monstrous PCs.

Alternatively, what could i add to the ancestry to balance the benefit of Dark Adapted?

Between 10:30 and 11:30 (at Bentley, at least) they don't play any music over the speakers, and the lights are dim.

It was the best, most relaxing, shopping experience I've ever had.

You don't realise how much noise is blasted over the store speakers, until its gone. All that audible trash that is blasted out, just to incentivise you to shop more, is amazingly intrusive.

Hello Netizens. I travelled all the way from Perth to Bogor to sample the exotic delights of McDonald's...

What is the significance of this burger?

I google searched. The only explanation i can find is "it's like the McRib but with pepper sauce", "it was developed in Singapore" and "you can buy it around New Years"

But, why?

Is pepper steak and onions a popular food in Singapore? Is steak a common New Years food item? Is there some cultural significance?

Thanks

Had my first game. It was challenging - we had a lot of interruptions at the table, and we were tired (imagine, being adults with kids and thinking we could play D&D. ridiculous!).

Here's my thoughts. I'd very appreciate any advice you can offer.

1. I struggled with the reaction roll (its new to me). When I was initially reading about the reaction roll I was worried that too many encounters would turn out hostile, and the whole dungeon (Stonehell) would be one hostile murder-hole. In hindsight, there were a lot more "friendly" encounter rolls than I expected, and it started to feel like just visiting the city at night - sure, you might get mugged, but where else are you going to get

Hello. Its my first game Shadowdark game tomorrow. Looking for some guidance on Random Encounters.

  1. How do you decide the danger level of a dungeon in your game?

I'm going to be using Stonehell and I was thinking that all dungeon areas are unsafe by default, which increases to Risky when they players are in a faction territory, which will increase to Deadly when its either dark, or some other factor is affecting the danger level.

  1. How do you interpret "Close" starting distance random encounters?

Do you assume the encounter is lying in wait? Do you have the PCs and the encounter bump into each other as they round a corner? Do you assume "Close" means the encounter is moving stealthi

Hello. I'm planning to run Stonehell soon.

I get the impression that Kobolds are a neutral faction that repair and maintain the dungeon infrastructure, and act as a go-between for the various factions, delivering supplies and running the pub, etc.

I was thinking of running the Kobolds as a strictly passive group that only fights if attacked first, and otherwise just exist as a useful source of resupply, information, and add "liveliness" to the dungeon.

However, there's a bunch of Kobolds on the wandering monster tables - if they're all just passive, I'm worried those wandering monster tables won't carry a lot of threat.

How do you manage your Kobolds? Do you run the Kobolds as neu

Why do they actually need adventurers?

I'm planning to run Stonehell using "The Keep" as the home base. [ though I've actually settled on Little Keep on the Borderlands, since it actually names the NPCs, and loads you up with interesting plot hooks...]

I'm just looking over the guard staff in the keep - both Keep and Little Keep are loaded to the teeth with low and mid level fighters, a bunch of which have magic weapons and armour. I'm fairly certain the Keep garrison could ride out and cleanse the wilderness with minimal losses. Why do they even need adventurers in a situation such as this - I am struggling to feel the tension.

If you compare with something like Ironwood Gorge,
