Tried uploading some of my own recordings of fully public domain songs - most notably some piano solos of classical pieces (1800s era) that I wanted to add orchestration to, and some old American folk songs (also 1800s). Both of these categories are 100% squarely in the public domain. But I found that while Suno will gladly (and amazingly) remix my own original compositions, it will go "off the rails" with common melodies. It'll hold coherence for maybe a few bars, then just "go wild on improvisation". I don't know if this is due to copyright guardrailing or if it's something else going on.

It makes me wonder if it's matching the melody and, despite it being public domain, it's connecting i

I currently have two 2.5G capable switches. They both also have an SFP+ 10G port for uplink. One of these two switches has PoE ports. They're both managed switches. I have the non PoE switch at my desk and PoE switch is the "backbone" right now.

I'm planning on expanding my network and I want to have a separate switch that all of my main servers are connected to. I have four servers that all have 2.5G ports that need to attach to the switch. I want to free up those POE ports as I am currently building out network drops around my house and want to start considering applications like powered IP cameras.

Here's the rub. I use virtual interfaces on my servers in order to handle VLANs. I use V

Any ideas for Z Fold 7 user?

App Issues/Questions

I've been on Freestyle Libre for years (since the original 10-day version). My insurance recently made some "changes" to policy and now they only cover Dexcom G7. I have two 15-day Libre 3 sensors left plus one I am wearing, and it works fine on my brand new Fold 7 - easily re-paired to the new phone with no problem. I do get a warning from the Libre app about an unsupported platform, but everything works fine for me.

My pharmacy already filled a script for G7 sensors. However, I've just now discovered that they won't work on my new phone - probably because the Fold 7 ships with Android 16.

I'm considering asking my provider if they can try to do a prior auth to get me back on Libres, but

I'm trying to repair an ebike that I bought used for a good price. Everything works generally - motor is great, no issues, even good battery - but after using it for a few months it started behaving weird, so I started digging and found some wiring issues, mostly "open" wires (think when your headphones only play when you bend the wire a certain way). Whoever put this together did a pretty crappy job - there's wires just twisted together and taped with scotch tape for example. I'm working on redoing all the wiring and connectors properly, but what I'm struggling with is finding proper pinouts for the display and the "alarm/horn" box.

All the parts are generic Chinese parts. Trying to searc

If there are better places to post this let me know. It looks like you have to request access to submit bug reports to them.

Just look at this ridiculous screenshot:

The on-screen keyboard scales up vertically based on the horizontal screen size. This is on my 21:9 ultrawide monitor. Yeah, this is basically completely useless. It works great on vertical displays like phones or vertically-oriented tablets, but even a normal widescreen monitor makes this amusingly useless.

There appears to be no way to configure how large the keyboard is.

I do need the on-screen keyboard on

I have myopia and thus have a very strong prescription. There's only a few labs that can make my lenses even in normal glasses, let alone the custom stuff for most of the VR/AR headsets out there.

I have a Quest 2 and and a Rift S. Both work great and fit well over my glasses without any discomfort. However, since I need the prescription to be able to see well in VR to begin with, this is a feature that never gets talked about. I know that many of the manufacturers are doing custom lens inserts, but as I said I strongly doubt that my lenses could be made in those inserts. (For context, the edge of my lens is more than 7mm thick)

There's so many neat devices out there. Bigscreen Beyond 2 j

A long while ago - probably 10 years or so - I moved some of my old retro PCs to a garage for temporary storage. I did not intend for them to stay this long, but life got in the way (long story, OT here) and I just now got those systems out of storage and to my new house. Overall they look clean on the outside - a bit dustier but no significant exterior damage (the garage has no windows so they won't need Retrobright or anything). I'm a little concerned that a couple of them might have some degraded plastic that feels like it'll crack pretty easily though.

The garage they were in was NOT climate controlled. There was no actual water, rain, etc. but up here in MN we get bitterly cold winters

I have two Seagate 8TB Archive (SMR) drives that I use strictly for offline backup purposes. Both of them were in Seagate USB 3 external enclosures. I originally got these on a Black Friday sale some time back, I knew they were SMR but for offline backup use I had no issues with that.

One of the disks started acting strangely during a backup. It seemed to be taking unusually long to read data during backup verification, sometimes stalling out and sometimes reading around 3-4MB/sec. You might expect that from an unmanaged SMR drive during intensive writes, but generally not during reads. I figured that perhaps the drive could be going bad - it's probably 6 years old now (but it has less th

Southern MN. We had a major power outage during the snowstorm a couple weeks ago. Knocked out my power for over 6 hours. Ever since the power came back, I've been having weird issues with intermittent connectivity.

Most of the time the connection works just fine. However, sometimes the connection just... Drops packets. For maybe 20-30 seconds (long enough that apps will time out or error), nothing can get in or out. Then it starts working again.

The gap between these mini-outages can be anywhere from days to less than a minute. It's caused me some problems with Zoom meetings, as I'll either "disappear" for 30 seconds at a time, or sometimes just get dropped from the meet

For example, suppose you want to allow people to browse your "sets" - "Now That's What I Call Music US Albums", "The 10 Best Ever Disney Soundtracks", "The 100 Greatest Albums of All Time"... Is there some function built in that can do this?

I could use the Comment field in the tags, and then make smart playlists, but that will just concatenate all the songs in order of all the albums. I'm looking for something a bit more like what you'll often see on commercial services - where you can have "featured collections" of albums that open a view that shows only those *albums*, letting the user then navigate to an album from the list.

Navidrome does work excellent as a Subsonic server as well,

For the longest time the answer has been that older pre-DDR4 desktops only support up to 32GB of RAM. However, these modules clearly exist.

Is 32GB a "hard limit" (i.e. something inherent to the CPU's/chipset's design) or is it just "the largest size that was available when we wrote the spec"? For example, I discovered that DDR4-based systems (e.g. 9th gen Intel processors) do support 128GB of RAM using 4x 32GB sticks, despite the max for DDR4 desktops being specified as "64GB" in most cases - at the time DDR4 desktops came out, 32GB single DIMMs didn't exist yet. (Similarly, I installe

Hi all,

I've got a small collection of older Dell laptops that I want to turn into various single-purpose machines - kiosks, music players, lower-res video players, etc. All of them work great and are maxed out in specs, the problem is that by now many of them have failing LCD panels, in that the CCD tubes are worn out and the display either has no light at all, or the light is very dim and/or flickery.

I've seen a lot of stuff about buying panels off Aliexpress that are compatible with various laptops, and (in many cases) are actually significant upgrades - from CCD backlit TN LCDs up to LED backlit IPS LCD for example. The LED backlighting in particular gives the display pretty good rel

Many little breakout boards or carrier boards for small chips/sensors have a set of standard 0.1" spaced holes. Normally, if I want to make the device removable from the board, I just use pin headers, however they can easily add a good 15mm or so of thickness to the project. If I solder male pins to the sensor and then directly solder those to the PCB it reduces the extra height quite a bit, but it also makes the device non-removable.

Looking for the best option for something that works well with 0.1" spaced perfboard/breadboard-style PCB holes. Doesn't need to work with an actual breadboard (no long pins needed).

It should have reasonable "retention" i.e. so something can't just fall off

Title is the gist of it, but here are a few specifics:

  • Ideal size is 4 bays. 6 is also OK. But 8 and beyond will probably make the case bigger than I'm hoping for.
  • Bays should allow SAS drives. I plan to wire the trays to an LSI card using SFF to 4x "SATA" cable(s). Some NAS enclosure bays don't have the notch punched out so SAS drives can't he physically installed.
  • Trayless design is strongly preferred. I partly want to use this as a portable multipurpose NAS so being able to swap drives quickly without needing to unscrew/screw trays would be very useful.
    • A suitable alternative would be tool-less trays where the drives can be swapped without screwdrivers.
  • Support a Mini ITX b
