I've finished my weekend project of replacing my old USG-3P with an ER707-M2 and wanted to document it.

I have a VM running Technitium DNS server (was a Pi Hole / Adguard Home server) that performs ad blocking and also resolves a local domain.

I wanted the internet DNS to still resolve if my local server was offline for one reason or another. This would be a common scenario for businesses that may only have a single active directory domain controller.

I also wanted IPv6 to use my local DNS server instead of potentially bypassing it. This again also affects businesses that might want IPv6 internet/WAN support but need to ensure only their AD server is handed out for DNS.

I found using SL

Putting this out there for all the power users and IT support / networking workers of Winnipeg and surrounding areas who have Bell connections in their life.

Has anyone with the BellMTS Home Hub 3000 noticed that they are losing connection every 10~ minutes or so with the Advanced DMZ feature (assigns your router the WAN IP) enabled?

I've had multiple (business) locations in Manitoba that have had this problem over the past three weeks and suspect it's a firmware bug on the Home Hub 3000 but have been unsuccessful in convincing the help desk to do anything other than replace the modem.

The connection drops right at the 10 minute mark and quickly follows with a DHCP release/renew so it can

Documenting this for other poor souls who find out the hard way what these licenses do when assigned in error.

If you've never setup Teams as a phone system / VOIP solution you may not understand what these licenses are really for or perhaps think they're related to the dial-in functionality of Teams.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-add-on-licensing/virtual-user

The Teams Phone Resource Account license should never be assigned to users that aren't resource accounts.

They say never to assign them to users but they never explain all the different problems that will manifest if you do.

If do you accidentally assign a user 'Microsoft Teams Phone Resource Account' li

The was announced a month ago and the change is going to come in effect this month if it hasn't already.

If you've implemented HVE accounts and your use case requires the occasional email to a recipient outside your tenant you will need to switch to another solution.

Just to give some insight into what many non-US companies who ship to the US are going through.

Basically everything of China Origin needs to pay 10% currently when it’s imported into the US now:

https://www.wiley.law/alert-New-10-Percent-Tariffs-on-Chinese-Goods-Take-Effect-Canada-and-Mexico-Tariffs-Postponed-30-Days-by-Trump-Administration

This requires extra customs paperwork, extra labour to verify products country of origins, and reporting to get done properly when the previous situation was more relaxed.

Companies are being put in a hard place of deciding in what cases they need to cancel and refund orders or just take a loss of profit on the order as a result.

I forgot my username and password and didn't have cloud access setup to my Windows-based Omada controller.

All google results I could find just told people to reset the controller, devices and setup from scratch basically.

This not being my first rodeo with breaking into web apps I set out to figure it out on my own. Without further ado:

How to reset your Omada Controller password

  1. Start your Omada Controller
  2. Use a MongoDB tool and connect to your Omada's MongoDB database. On Windows I used Studio 3T as it 'just worked' unlike MongoDB Compass. By default there is no username or password on the database. The default port Omada uses is 27217. You can get the port from the omada.p

Was their comment simply a joke or was it real, I guess we will find out.

Can hardly wait to see which way this one goes. I imagine voter turnout will be nice and low.

If this riding goes orange I will Shake and Bake a crow and eat it.

I decided to splurge and get the essentials pack. I figured I could use them around the house.

After cable managing my TV I found that I could get away with the small cable arches (stuck to the wall mounts articulating arm) and that became the first pack I ran out of.

If I was going to do it again I would just buy 5 small arch packs instead of the essential pack. You get a bulk discount at that point too.

Having 25 on hand would likely make me use them more liberally too as opposed to trying to be strategic with my use and placement.

With Black Friday deals going live I finally pulled the trigger on a few things.

I searched the subreddit for 'upsell' and didn't see any threads so this might be new store behavior.

After placing my order of around $120 USD (before taxes + shipping) it prompted me if I wanted to add a JerryRig Knife for $4.95.

Anyone else get any upsell offers?
