People always talk about how anachronistic the absence of smartphones or other mobile phones is in the Neuromancer universe, but I just realized that, right before the phone booths start ringing in the airport scene, Case is looking to buy cigarettes for his flight. In fact, he's wondering if there's a smoking section, assuming that other airlines do. As someone who smoked for more than half my life and only recently managed to quit, and who's used to the new tobacco and smoking policies of today's world, this has blown my mind. I'm surprised I hadn't noticed it until now, considering I've read the book many times since I first read it about 25 years ago. Anyway, it's just an observation tha

I seriously need him to appear in the series. Besides being my second favorite character, I think he contributes about 25% of the charisma to the Sprawl universe.
I've been a Logitech MX Ergo (non-S) user for years and I'm looking for a cheaper, more rugged thumb trackball similar to the MX Ergo that also has the lateral scroll wheel functionality. In my search, I've seen that the ELECOMM-XT3DRBK-G might be the best option, but I've also found some posts here saying it's terrible. Is it really that bad? Are there any other alternatives I've missed?

I'm trying to set up a Raspberry Pi 5 with a Digiamp+ and a Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 using Pipedal software, and everything seems to work except I can't get Pipedal to display and be controlled via the touchscreen. I can only manage it from a web browser (the RPi5's operating system is headless). How can I make everything work directly on the machine without having to connect from external devices, while sacrificing as few system resources as possible to avoid impacting audio processing performance?
Do you think it's worth getting a PlayStation 3 to install a Linux distribution? What's holding me back the most is that I haven't seen any reasonably up-to-date distributions for that hardware. Are there any distributions that were updated in 2024-2025 that can be installed on a PS3?
This weekend I plan to try to transplant the buttons from a Logitech mouse that I have been using lately and has been holding for years and put them on my mx ergo trackball, which I am using much less than I would like due to the unreliability of its buttons and in case things don't go well I will turn to the wisdom of the community: with which trackball would you replace a Logitech mx ergo among those on the market today?
