I'd love to hear from anyone who has played on sizeable 3D printed terrain sets. It looks like there are some real trade-offs around playability, realism, and storage.

For example, these bundles from Saucerman studios. Grid City looks very practical; everything based on 3" cubes, lots of little walkways. It looks to me like a flexible way to have a very re-arrangeable board that has lots of obstacles of the type Infinity needs. Storage also looks quite a bit simpler than sets with larger buildings.

This sub doesn’t allow "what paddle" should I buy, but this is only one stage of the many repetitive questions that make up the paddle purchase cycle.

* What paddle should I buy?

* I bought this paddle, I'm excited for it to arrive

* Here's my new paddle, everyone!

* Did I buy the right paddle?

* Is this paddle fake?

* My paddle came with a small mark on it, should I contact customer service?

* My paddle's edge guard is loose, should I contact customer service?

* I contacted customer service and they haven't replied

* Customer service replied, they were terrible

* Customer service sent me a whole new paddle, they were great

* Does this heavily used paddle need replacin

I was thinking about environments like hotels, entertainment venues, or airports.. the sorts of places you might be ambushing a high value target, and I realized these often have moving elements like escalators. How would you model those in a way that doesn't cause a cascade of special rules interactions?

I'm having some success with this aspect of the rigging. Larger-scale models, people are using 3D printed 'harps' to construct their ratlines with, but since I don't have a 3D printer, I figured I'd see if I can use combs.

Using combs was more annoying than I expected because comb plastic resists both superglue and plastic cement, which is why you see the frame of plasticard and putty. If I were doing this a second time, I'd put the plasticard on the inside - you need something to stop the thread from sliding down the teeth.

Scarcely a day goes by here without someone asking what a photon's experience of time is. I think there are two phenomena muddled up here, one is whether we can measure proper time for a given particle (for light, you can't), and the second is what it means to experience anything.

If you take personification out of it, electrons don't experience anything because they're not conscious: they are not individually complex enough to record and process information about themselves or their environment. You can create a clock out of massive particles if you have a bunch of them, because they can change relative position (so you can store information in the clock that corresponds to time elapse

I hear that modern paddles produce so much spin that they've completely changed the game from gen 1 and 2 paddles. This got me curious how close we are to theoretical maximum spin. Can we do much better, or are we already there?

My assumptions are that the best possible imparting of spin happens when/if the ball rolls along the surface of the paddle (like a wheel), rather than skidding and not coming up to full paddle speed. If this happens, the spin you get is limited by the paddle's lateral speed relative to the trajectory of the departing ball. So if the ball shoots away dead horizontally, the spin comes from the vertical motion of your paddle.

I recently participated in a "Get your DUPR Rating!" event at a local venue. The organizers got 9 or so unrated players together and matched us up round robin. We played a bunch of different combinations so the algorithm could sort out our relative rankings.

Nine of my games are currently logged in DUPR, but all of them have the same result for every player involved, every single match:

It kinda looks like this event might not result in any ratings for the people involved. My understanding was that NR vs. NR games did produce a default rating and that we'd at least wind up w

A local pickleball club runs "get your DUPR rating" events, where a bunch of NR players play together. After a bunch of rotations, DUPR will have figured out who the stronger and weaker players are in the batch. What average will it use?

I'm assuming that if the NR players only play each other, DUPR can't tell the difference between a bunch of 2.5s and a bunch of 4.0s—all it has is the point spreads. It might figure out that "Kyle" is a full point better than me, but how would it know if we're 2.5 and 3.5 respectively, or 3.0 and 4.0?

Do these registered events always toss a rated player in the mix? Or do they just automatically cluster you around 3.0 until you play some rated players?
