I live in Texas, where we are approaching day 35 of temps over 100 F degrees. It's hot here, really, really hot. This week we've had temperatures 42C and above. We have at least another week of this before it cools down. Around midnight it cools down to a chilly 31 C. We have a swimming pool but by mid-summer it's like jumping into a warm bath. My theory on why people originally settled here: this is where the horses died. I recognize there are bigger problems in the world, so I'm not crying about my first world problems, merely pointing out that since I have options, I'm opting to live someplace that doesn't cause you to sweat off three pounds just by walking outside to get your mail
You would deal with shit like this. To give you a sense of local priorities, I live in an area that has a 1.2 billion football stadium. This week we learned that our public schools are going to get gutted on funding, again One of our politicians wants to cut a year out of school to save money. Insanity. No worries, says my wife, our governor is pushing to allow guns on campus. That will fix everything. Every day is a WTF day here. We have visited Canada and I've been lobbying my wife to relocate someday in the future. One of my main reasons is for my kids. I'd like them to get a good education, live in a safe place, and not have to spend their lives as slaves to debt. I'll note t
American here seeking expert opinions on Canadian races. I would like to run my first marathon in 2011. I've been running half marathons no problem so I think I can run a full one with some training. (ok, a lot of training). I love Canada and visit when I can. Any suggestions on the best marathons in your wonderful country?
I have visited Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI, so any where else would provide additional adventures for me.
Thanks much from your friend to the south.
UPDATE - I think I may shoot for the Halifax Bluenose Marathon in May. If the final leg is running up that damn hill to the citadel, it may be my last race ever. Thanks again everyone.
