Velvet Buzzsaw is a divisive film, but one I happened to love. For anybody else who just couldn’t get it out of their head after watching it, I’d love to hear from you.

For the rest of this essay, I will refer to the entity inhabiting Dease’s paintings as the Art Spirit. Throughout the film, this entity kills a number of characters by somehow using works of art against them. It is unclear who or what the Art Spirit is, but I don’t think it necessarily matters for purposes of this theory. That’s a topic for another day.

Below, I will try to dissect a number of common theories about how the Art Spirit behaves and discuss how well they hold up. I will then present my own theory. Although

A couple requests/ideas for you:

While normal cloze deletions may be enough for many languages, ideographic languages like Japanese and Chinese have additional challenges. I'd love it if there was a special mode for these languages that just tested you on the readings of these words. Instead of inserting a blank space, simply bold the tested word and require the user to type out how it's pronounced.

As it is, even typing mode doesn't really train you to recognize the kanji of the word you're learning. One could conceivably learn the characters by writing them out while doing cloze deletions, but learning kanji by rote based on word frequency doesn't really work so well. Kanji is better lea

Errmehgerd! So gud!

Some of you will remember my game-initiating ways from a while ago. Well, it just so happens that I recently installed Windows, so I can play around a billion more games than I used to be able to!

So, let's play something!

I've been keeping the game list updated. Although I'm sure I'm missing a lot of good stuff now (bonus points if you name something good that isn't on the list).

What should we play? We'll need time to get everyone downloaded and installed, so let's figure this out!

So, I was a bit more liberal in this update. I know it'll mean that everyone will go completely crazy with requests, but the new workflow is so easy that I can handle it!

Here's the new version!

You still need consent to waifu a real person, but if you wanna waifu Twilight or bananas, be my guest! I only ask that you pick waifus that mean something to you. Don't just pick random nonsense out of a hat. I add enough random nonsense myself already!

Things are working out so far!

Here's the first version for your viewing pleasure!

It's an SVG, so any decent browser should be able to view it. Plus, it's fully searcheable!

At this point, I'm only putting the raw data in, so positional stuff isn't important right now.

Detailed instructions for inclusion:

  1. Make sure your waifus are actually your waifus. Hint: if none of your supposed waifus agreed to be your waifus, then we have a conflict of interest. Go get consent, you weirdo. If your desired waifu is fictitious or inanimate, then go hog-wild. I just ask that you pic

That's right! The Waifu Graph is back from the dead!

Rather than trying to update the old one (ah, so many memories of trying to untangle that mess), I'm switching to a new and (hopefully) improved workflow. To get on the graph, just follow these easy steps:

  1. Make sure your waifus are actually your waifus. Hint: if none of your supposed waifus agreed to be your waifus, then we have a conflict of interest. Go get consent, you weirdo.

  2. Make a top-level comment in this post (as in, respond directly to the post, not to someone else's comment) listing you

Ever watch a bad horror flick with friends and find it completely hilarious? Well, I've been doing the same thing with games.

u/shoo22 and I already beat an exceptionally bad adventure game called "Hotel." This time, we'll be trying out something new!

Just follow these easy steps:

  1. Get on teamspeak (connect to voice.mlplounge.net and join the Gaming Room).

  2. Get the Onlive client and make an account.

  3. Spectate whatever game we're playing.
