So I was fortunate to land an entry-level job in RE right out of college.

I had no RE experience prior, pretty much just interned in infosec roles. I studied CompE so I have that background but my school did not offer any RE-related courses or even go into that at all in classes.

Anyway, I started the job and it’s really, really hard stuff which I fully expected. But during the interviews I was encouraged and told there would be a ton of mentorship early on which I have not experienced. The senior people are all so overworked that they just have 30sec to tell me “that’s wrong” before they have to run to their other project/meeting.

I feel like everyone in this group is also incredibly sm

I’ve seen this dark colored Hyundai crossover SUV (I think the Tucson) with police lights flying thru Union Sq at night a couple times now. It just confuses me because:

  1. I’ve never seen a police force around here, or even any federal agencies, use Hyundais

  2. It has normal civilian plates, no blue police or US govt plates

Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas on it?

I moved into a newly renovated place (in an old house though) in May. In the first couple months I spotted a mouse at night in the kitchen, so I told the landlord. He assured me they had pest control come annually and they’d just come in February, and gave me some traps.

I put probably 10 traps around the kitchen where I saw him traveling, with chocolate and PB, and left them for about a month with no results. I saw no signs of the mouse so I gave up. Granted I still keep my place SUPER clean, literally my entire pantry is in zip lock bags and I take the trash out every other day. There is no food for them at all.

Anyway, a couple days ago I’m sitting on the couch and he comes running thro

I know they’ve been testing with drivers for a minute but has anybody seen any Waymos with no drivers going around? I drove past one this morning on Rindge Ave at like 6:15-6:30 and I swear it didn’t have a driver…

I saw a guy near Union Square this evening who was seemingly walking a turkey with him? I.e. he was just walking down the sidewalk but clearly coaxing this turkey that was gladly following him. Not sure if he was feeding it or what, I’d assume so. Have people seen this guy before? Is he a known character in the area?

So apparently I’m late to the party but the Vaast A/1 got recalled, and my SN is on the list.

They sent me the standard options, including the Niner frame and $200 for the swap. But I talked to my LBS and they said it would be $800 for the frame swap..

Is this an insane price by my LBS or is Vaast just stiffing us with minimal reimbursement? How much did other people pay for the swap?

Thanks!

Hi! Recently moved in the area and got Astound at my new place. When the guy came to install it, he said they didn’t have lines to my house and he had to put them in himself, which he did same day and it seemed to work.

However ever since, my internet has been shoddy. Sometimes both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz fail, but much of the time the 5Ghz network is not working so only the slower 2.4Ghz network works, which is way slower than what I’m paying for so obviously not okay.

Has anyone else had this specific issue with Astound? Called their support but they just told me to restart the modem, which always fixes it.. for like a single day. Then it fails again.

Hi! Does anybody know when the volleyball group plays in Lincoln Park? I want to join but haven’t gotten the chance to ask/figure out their schedule.

Saw the post 3 days ago about concrete being poured but saw a couple people I follow on Strava seemed to ride it today, is it officially open yet? Or more of a “go around the barricades” situation?

Headed back to Houston soon and very eager to check it out.

Thanks!

Hi all, I’m a student graduating in May and I am grateful to have a solid well-paying job lined up, albeit in a HCOL area. I’ve been working on drafting up a budget and this is my current one. I tried to factor in as many random expenses as I could think of, and toward the higher end of each. That said it feels like my leftover money is tight and I’m wondering if that’s a good thing (aggressive investing, minimizing money sitting around) or if I should adjust things?

I’m having trouble finding much info on drop-offs in Hopkinton for getting to the Athlete’s Village.

I live in a suburb already so I was just going to have a friend drop me off, but it looks like they only let you get dropped off at 52 or 80 South St. and then you have to wait for a 15+ min shuttle… if this is required it’s fine but is it possible to take the neighborhood streets and get within a mile or two and just walk to the start? Any recs on locations for drop off would be great.

Also, if you go straight to the Athlete’s Village in Hopkinton does this mean you can’t do gear check?

Thanks!

So my girlfriend and I have been dating for almost 3 years now. It’s been a wonderful relationship, so few arguments and we honestly are on the same page about so much.

We’re both engineers, graduating college soon, so we’ve worked super hard and had to sacrifice a lot of sleep, hanging with friends, and time for our degrees. That said, I have a solid job lined up in the area and we plan to move in together after graduating.

My girlfriend was always a very “glass half full” type of person—not to say she didn’t overthink or get anxious sometimes but generally very positive outlook on life. But in the past year things have really shifted. She’s been struggling really hard to find a job after

So I’m graduating with a BS in CompE in May, and am super grateful to have a solid job offer at a nonprofit research-focused company.

That said, they encourage and fully fund continued education, so I want to pursue a Master’s in CompE. It seems like a no-brainer to do it for free and I can do it through my school; it’s not the most prestigious grad program, but it is a solid school and I get to double count a few courses so I can get it done pretty quickly.

For people who have done this track of going immediately into a part-time MS program while working full-time, do you have any tips or advice against/for doing that?

I’m planning on doing just 1 class (3-4 credit hours) to start, and
