My kindergartner has made such great progress this past school year. Specifically in his reading skills. It's amazing to see how far he's come. Now that we're only a couple months away from summer vacation, I'm starting to worry about "summer slide". I'd hate to see him lose progress over summer vacation. Anyone have suggestions for keeping their kindergarteners skills sharp during the summer?

I’m wondering how many moms here had endo pain and symptoms during pregnancy. I know a lot of doctors claim that endo pain goes away during pregnancy but I’ve also heard that isn’t always true. If you still had endo pain during pregnancy, was it temporary or was it throughout the entire pregnancy?

My story: my first child was conceived immediately after lap surgery. I had zero endo pain during pregnancy and that lasted until almost 1 year postpartum. It was wonderful, especially after so many years of constant pain and infertility. However, it didn’t last forever and I started having pain again. I also had infertility issues again. Skip forward a few years and I’m now unexpectedly pregnant

I wasn’t tracking my cycle closely. Based on memory, I think I had a period around July 5 but that is an educated guess at best. I got my first positive on August 3 (I have short cycles of 24 days). My doctor ordered an hcg test and said we would wait for the results and then do an ultrasound a few weeks later to determine a due date. The first hcg was done Aug. 7 and the result was 1500. The next hcg test was Aug. 9 and came back at 3700. I got a message from a different doctor who was filling in while mine was out that said “hcg is rising normally”. On Aug. 13, I messaged my doctor’s office and asked if I should set up an appointment. A nurse replied that I need to wait for my doctor to r

My preschooler’s name is Everett. I love his name. We use “Ev” and “Evie” as nicknames but he primary goes by his given name. I just found out I am (unexpectedly) pregnant again. I wasn’t planning to have another child so I’ve never given much thought as to names that would go nicely with my son’s name. We are not sure on gender yet so I’d like ideas for both. I don’t necessarily need a matching sib-set name but I do like the idea of names that sound nice together.

I like the name Evander but I’m worried it’s too close to Everett. I also like the name Vanessa but my husband has a negative association with it. Husband has always loved the name Olivia but has agreed that it’s gained too much

This is a small, silly complaint but I find it annoying that every character is so beautiful. The only ones who aren’t are a few evil beings. If everyone is so good looking, then in actuality, most of them are average.. right? I’m currently halfway through CC2 and I’ve read the ACOTAR books, this is something that has bothered me in both series. I just read a line that described the Hind as “beautiful and terrible” and I find it weirdly distracting. I understand that the Fae are supposed to be more beautiful than their human counterparts but even the humans are described as good looking (ie: Bryce’s mom in CC and Elain in ACOTAR) I’ve actually stopped picture a bunch of beautiful characters.

Alone Time

Happy/Proud

My 3.5yo son goes to full time preschool/daycare. He mostly enjoys it but this week has been a little harder. He’s been complaining about a certain friend who has been clingy lately and always wants to play together. At dinner tonight, my son said “I just love home because sometimes I need alone time and I never get it at school cause friend will just follow me.” This made me smile. I think the importance of alone time gets overlooked. Everyone is so concerned with not feeling lonely we disregard the need to be alone. I guess I’m glad that, during weeks like this, I can provide a calm environment for my son with the alone time he clearly needs.

Sorry in advance if this type of post gets old/annoying but I’ve never been on a cruise of any kind before and I haven’t visited a Disney Park since I was a kid. I recently booked a 4 Night Cruise on the Magic going from New Orleans to Cozumel for my family (me, husband and 3 year old son). I’m so excited but also overwhelmed because I have no clue how to plan the activities, food, shows, etc. Please help me. I’ve included a few personal details and questions below.

My 3yo is shy and cautious. I seriously doubt he will be comfortable with being alone in any kids club. I’d love to give it a try but not counting on it going well. Is this going to ruin his experience if he misses out on the us

Tell me about the scams, low quality products or false advertising you’ve encountered a parent. No matter how small or insignificant, this is your chance to vent it out to others who might relate. I’ll go first.

Toys that (falsely) advertise an interactive app or website feature. I’ve purchased multiple kids toys and books that claim to have an app or some type of free download only to discover that the app/website was poorly designed or never maintained so it no longer works. Luckily for us, the apps and websites are not necessary for the toys to work but it’s still frustrating. These aren’t small toy companies without the ability to keep apps updated and working. It’s just lazy businesses

My son (3yo) LOVES Halloween. We’ve already started thinking about Halloween costumes and reading spooky books. I’m always looking for new ideas. So I’m curious, what are you kiddos favorite Halloween books? What are your costume ideas for this year? Any fun activities or traditions you’d like to share?

Ours are listed below.

Halloween Books: -Room on the Broom -Creepy Carrots -Christopher Pumpkin

Halloween Costumes: -Triceratop (he was a t-rex last year) -Firefighter -Mario themed (Bowser, Yoshi or Princess Peach) -Spider-Man or Hulk

Dreading my next ultrasound

Infertility/pregnancy related

Brief history: I was diagnosed with stage 3 after lap in 2019. Prior to lap, I had several years of infertility. I was pregnant a few months after lap, had my son in 2020. We’ve been trying for another baby for a year now with no luck. Also, all my endo symptoms are back.

Now: I had an ultrasound back in March which showed 2 new spots on my ovary. My egg count took a substantial hit in the last few years after surgery. Due to my age (36) and low AMH levels, I’m now working with a fertility specialist to get a full fertility profile before determining the next step in trying for another baby and/or treating my endo.

Current Hell: the next test my doctor wants to do is a follicle count. Th

It’s finally summer. After being shut in all winter I’m ready to start spending time outside. We have a fenced in backyard with plenty of outdoor toys for my almost 3yo. The past two summers with my toddler have been great for playing outside.. but that’s all changed now. A few weeks ago my son climbed up his slide and got a face full of gnats. Don’t get me wrong, that’s a gross and unpleasant experience. I understand his immediate freak out. What I’m struggling with is the continued fear of all bugs. He really hates the bugs that fly but even ants get him worked up. We have summer vacations planned, we purchased a zoo membership and generally expect to spend a lot of time outside these next

I want to be in holiday spirit but my toddler has other plans. We’ve put the Christmas tree up, decorated a gingerbread house, saw Santa and reindeer, worn holiday pjs and sweaters, watched the Grinch, etc. It doesn’t matter, my 2 year old is still saying “trick or treat” and demanding Halloween videos and songs. It’s awesome that he loves Halloween but I’m ready to move on.

When I was a kid, I went to school with a boy named Onyx. He and his siblings were all named after stones. I know he had a sister named Diamond and another named Crystal. I can’t remember the other siblings names (5 kids total). As a kid I thought Onyx was a weird name but it’s kind of grown on me and got me thinking about themed names.

So just for fun, if you had to pick a theme and name 2 boys and 2 girls after it, what would the theme be and what names would you pick?

I would pick a Food theme. Girl names: Olive and Nori; Boy names: Graham and Colby

I’m also including a “guilty pleasure” theme of Christmas. Girl names: Noel and Winter; Boy names: Nicholas and Saint (runner up Shepher
