Hiya, I'm a 40yo NB who has been invited to a wedding this summer. I'm Scottish, the wedding is in England though. I've recently put on a bit of weight, and so nothing I have fits comfortably. The wedding is at the end of August, so I assume it'll be warm! Also if it's nice weather, a lot will be outside.

I'm absolutely stumped on what to wear! The grooms have said to just wear whatever I'm comfortable in, that they're just happy to see me, which is lovely but also stressing me out a bit haha. The last few weddings I've been to I've either gone in a floor length dress or a kilt, or a lovely jumpsuit (but my jumpsuits are too small for me atm).

Does anyone have any inspiration for me? T

So on Thursday we had our elections for Holyrood, the Scottish Parliament. We have a hybrid system where people have a constituency/local MSP and then we have regional PR list systems to make it more representative so that a single party doesn't have a massive majority.

JKR lives in Edinburgh. The Scottish Green Party won 3 seats on the regional list for this area, which includes Q, a non binary person: https://edinburgh.greens.scot/people/q-manivannan/

Q was elected on the same day as Iris Duane from Glasgow and are two first openly trans representatives in Parliament - we've had a few at the local level but never at this level.

Some positivity :-D

Hi there, we're a small group of Millennials who aren't coping with the thought of turning 40 next year, and are looking to book onto a Celebrity Cruise to hide from the fact we're getting old. There's just one little niggle that's stopping me pressing the 'book' button, and I'm worrying if I'm overthinking, because that's what I'm best at!

I joined a few Celebrity groups on Facebook and have followed along some raaaaaaaaaaaaging debates about shorts in the dining rooms, and have seen a lot of comments that are along the lines of "f off to Carnival if you want that!" THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT SHORTS. What we're scared of is if it's going to be a bit too formal for us, or we're going to be ju

I know usually these two wouldn't be in the same ballpark, but for a trip we're looking at next October, they're pretty similar, which really surprised us. Not sure if that means that the Carnival is overpriced or if the Celebrity is a bargain?

We're looking at either:

Some of my friend group have a big birthday next year so we're looking at a couple of options. I'm trying to compare the different options to see what's best for us, but what things are important?

Cruise line?

Ship? (Age/Size/Amenities)

Itinerary?

Number of sea days?

Cost?

What matters most to you? And what else should we consider when comparing options?

Thanks!

I'm just back from my first Norwegian Cruise around the Eastern Med and I really loved it. I did a lot of research before picking NCL, and the reason I picked it is their older/smaller ships had really unusual itineraries, stopping at places that not many of the other mainstream companies would. I work in education and can't afford the fancier lines!

I'm a bit confused though, because now I'm back and thinking about doing another trip, but all the more unusual itineraries seem to be scrapped? Am I missing something? I had a lot of emails about some of these more niche itineraries, when they were going for the hard sell..?

I own my flat in a tenement, and our factor is the Housing Association who used to own them. One of my neighbours is currently retrofitting a van and occasionally has parts in the communal back drying green, which no one really minds. However, the factor has issues with this, and keeps threatening to pay to have this uplifted, and to recharge all of the flats for this service. I find this deeply unfair. There is no doubt who the stuff belongs to at all, he will freely admit it, and all 5 other flats can confirm it.

I do not understand how it can be legal/ethical/moral for me to be charged to pay for something to be uplifted when there is no question that it is not mine - I don't own a car,

Alison was elected as a Green MSP to the Scottish Parliament in 2011, and has been there since. In 2021 she became the Presiding Officer / Oifigear-Riaghlaidh of Holyrood, and accordingly gave up her party affiliation. For our non-Scottish friends, that's the equivalent of the Speaker of the House.

During this time, she has been extraordinarily bigoted. Despite the previous one being very questionable at times, she has been purposefully and needlessly cruel to queer people, and in particular, trans people.

The worst thing is her refusal to deal with transphobia in the chamber. There is a really vicious streak in some of the (particularly Tory/Labour) members, that she just lets carry on. W

What would your dream itinerary be, if money/time were no object? Could be a real, existing or historical itinerary, or one that only exists in your dreams :)

I think mine would be something like Vietnam - Cambodia - Thailand - Malaysia - Singapore - Indonesia - Philippines. However many little island stops we could fit it into 14/15 days. I think that amount of time would suit me.

It'd not fit into my price range though!
