The game tells you that they will eventually asking for a favor in return for helping you set up your tower, but this has never been brought up again during my playthrough with this origin.

Was that just meant to act as flavor text, or have I just not reached the point where that comes up yet?

I'm looking for a game I played around 20 years ago when I was in middle school. I recall playing a game where a meteorite crashed into the Earth, slowing down its rotation and tidally locking it with the sun. Your mission was to power up a machine on an island split between the dayside and the night side of the planet that a group of scientists created in order to restart the earth's rotation and save the planet.

It was one of those first person games that was in a similar style to Myst where you solve puzzles to progress. I believe you also navigated the world in a similar way where you click on arrows to move to a different location.
