Hi All

Hoping you can help me with some information on the job market for Finance Business Partners in London. I want to know how my current workload and package compares to the rest of the market, and whether I should be considering a move.

About me

32M, Chartered Accountant with around 5 years PQE. Single, no dependents, living in rented in London, with family around 2.5 hours away.

Current Situation / "The Good"

I am a Senior Finance Business Partner at a company based in London and other offices on the continent. I've been with the company for nearly 5 years, joining as an Analyst, then moving up to FBP, then moving on again to Senior Finance Business Partner around 9 mo

Hello All!

I moved into a rental property in 2021 with two other tenants. I still live in the property, whilst the other two tenants have since left (there has been 4-5 others who have filled their rooms since). We have a joint tenancy, so no subletting or lead tenant.

Now, when I moved in a few bills weren't being paid. I sorted out most of them, however the heating/hot water wasn't sorted until we contacted them last year & set up an account. I want to sort out the amount we owe from when I moved into 2021 until the account was set up last year.

I've spoken to the energy company and they say that there can be joint names on the account, which would:

Hello All.

Background: I moved into a flat (rented) in Nov 2021 with 2 existing tenants. The flat has hot water and heating provided by a district heating system, run by a specific company (no choice of provider). During my first tenancy (to Nov 2022) we received no bills. We started a new tenancy in Nov 2022 and at that point I got in touch with the energy provider to set up an account, received a form that I filled in and sent back. I did ask a question on the form but didn’t get a response, so filled in form as best as I could and sent on. I never heard anything back (note that the form itself says to post the form, but the person who provided me the form via email said to email it).

Hi all and thanks in advance for your advice.

I've recently applied for an amex platinum card (been accepted) want to double check my logic. I'm not normally someone who this would be worth it for but there's some specific circumstances coming up for me that I think might make it worth it this year.

About me:

  • M, 31, £65k. Live and rent in London, don't lead an incredibly extravagant lifestyle, more of a saver than a spender.
  • I normally travel maybe 4-5 times a year with work (Eurostar mainly) and don't always get business class for travel

Based on the above I wouldn't say the card is worth it, however:

  • I'm 99% certain I'll make the £6k spend in the first 6 months to get the 60k we

Hi All

I (30M) am looking for some critiques/advice on my current investments.

Context:
Essentially, I'd like to buy a property within the next 5 years (potentially next 2 depending on pay rises and the market), and so for the last year my savings have mostly very low risk holdings (see below for detail). However, I'm aware inflation is high and obviously the low returns I'm receiving mean I'm 'losing out' when taking this into account.

Questions:

  • Appreciating it is subjective, but am I making any glaring errors in your opinion?
  • Would you continue the pension overpayments given I am saving to buy?
  • Am I being too cautious in paying most of my savings into the premium bo

Hi All

I’m a 6” guy, about 160 pounds. I’m looking at getting a decent second hand office chair here in the U.K., about £125 to spend in total. For this price I can get a (quite old) used Leap (eBay) or a refurbished Reply with guarantee from a second hand refurb site. Just wondering if anyone has any steer on this? I’ve never had an ergonomic chair before, and the Leap gets great reviews, but I’m wondering if a non refurb model is going to be as good as a Reply that’s been refurbished?

Thanks in advance
