UK based - Looking for advice on an upgrade for the CPU in my son's PC as he's CPU throttled (single core performance iRacing) - Currently R5 3600, MSI gaming edge B450, 32GB 3200 DDR4, RTX 2070s. I'm trying to keep the budget wife-friendly.

Option 1 - around £200 and easiest.

The MSI board will take a 5700x3D ~£200 plus Thermalright Peerless Assasin £35. Sell the CPU for around £40.

Option 2 - around £300-325

Replace my 5800x3D with a R5 7600x £165, B650 board £140, Kingston Fury 32GB 6000MT/CAS30 £110 plus Thermalright Peerless Assasin £35. Give my son the 5800x3d bundle and sell the R5 3600 bundle for around £125-150.

I'm tempted to pay the extra £100ish and get on the AM5
