Friends, I am looking to remove old keys from the system and make one new one for a 2016 4Runner. Local official dealer quoted $280 just to program plus $150 for a key itself. This to me sounds astronomical (hooking up to a computer bus and pressing a few keys for $280?). I thought maybe there are shops / locksmiths who can do it for less? Thanks!

My parents are Russian and have recently moved from overseas to Stamford. They don’t speak much English and are a little bored. Does anyone know by any chance if we have some sort of ex-soviet meetups/events to help them find friends? Cheers 🍻

Recently moved to a house with oil furnace and signed up with Santa Oil. Got a call from them offering a free annual service because I have a contract. So I said why not. Some dude comes in, spends an hour or two in my boiler room and tells me that one damper is broken. Promises to follow up by email. I then went to check it out myself just to find out that he did not clean or even look at combustion chamber, didn’t check how clean the burner fire is, did not replace oil filters. Did not perform exhaust analysis to check C02. Did not tune the burner at all. But he managed to unscrew parts of the ductwork so it was leaking all over. Hey there. A few years back one guy that I knew was rebuilding his house in NJ. He told me that for general work like helping him do the site cleanup, move soil, gravel and what not there was a place in town where people were just sitting alongside the road waiting for gigs. I’d guess those were less fortunate people struggling with immigration status or what have you. So he’d drive by, hire them up for $10 - $15 bucks an hour, give them a ride & food, they’d help him do his stuff and get some tax free cash. The question is... do we have something like that going on in or around Stamford? Thanks!
