This is the second time this has happened to me and I just don’t get it.

I applied to this professional level office job a month ago and I got an email on Monday asking what my availability would be for a phone interview this week - the person specifically said they’re available ‘any time’ during business hours, so I responded that the best time for me would be Thursday at 9am if possible and to let me know if that works for them. I responded literally 5 minutes after receiving the email, and it was professionally worded, yet I never got a response.

How often has this happened to you guys?? I’m so sick of it.

I’m asking because I recently put in notice for a job that I didn’t completely hate. My direct managers were nice, but corporate were garbage- constant nagging about things outside of our control, micromanagement, never any positive input, etc etc. this was something I could put up with until they messed with my money and my commute - my supervisor let me come in a little early because a) there was work to be done regardless, and b) it made a difference in my commuting time and paycheck, think less than 100/mo.

Corporate decided that the overtime wasn’t to be approved anymore even though my productivity led to an increase in profits for our location, and no more flexible hours. Less money f

Hi all,

Ltl, ftp, on mobile, etc

I just need to vent and maybe get some advice on how to proceed with this.

My mom has always been a narcissist but went all-out after splitting with my dad when I was in college. He was an alcoholic asshole but got his shit together afterwards for the sake of the kids; she shacked up with a racist asshole and started living the life she always wanted aka without kids. Any support she gave us was begrudging, and she likes to now pretend she doesn’t have to deal with us. This didn’t affect me as much because I’m independent but it hit my younger siblings much harder. She’s run the whole narcissist gambit of blaming literally every one of her problems on he

Hi r/jobs,

I’m in my mid 20’s and graduated 4 years ago with a sociology degree; I picked soc because I had no idea what I wanted to do with my future but I liked the topic.

After graduation, I went from applying to jobs related to the field- data analysis and research. Nothing. I’ve been working mediocre receptionist gigs since and haven’t been involved in anything soc-related in years at this point because I’ve given up. No one knows what soc is anyways and all I ever got was ‘lol no wonder what do you even do with that degree’ comments from peers and coworkers.

So, who else out there feels like they have a useless degree? How did you dig yourself out of that rut?

Hi all,

I’m scheduled to attend a grad school open house for a public health grad program next week. I have a useless bachelor’s degree in sociology and have been out of the academic loop for a few years now, so I’m finally trying to get my life back on track.

I know it’s obviously dependent on the program, but generally speaking what should I bring to be prepared and what questions should I be asking? I definitely want to talk to advisors to see if my GRE scores will be good enough, and to past and current students to see what the workload and career options are like. I’m not planning on starting until fall 2020 so I have time to prepare but I want to have a concrete plan in place for c
