My mom’s cat, Gus, has developed circular scabs all across the bridge of his nose, with some traveling close to his eyes and lower nose. The scabs get crusty and fall off, and they leave a bald patch once healed. He doesn’t seem bothered by them but when he washes his face with his paws they will come off and bleed. No oozing of the scabs, they are dry. He had the same problem last summer, but they went away in the fall. This year just one or two came back in late spring and by summer they were back in full force. Once one heals and starts to go away, more will spring up.
My mom took him to Vetco last year and they scraped scabs off and tested them in the lab

TLDR: Year old starter no longer doubling at 100% hydration but doubling at 50% hydration.

I’ve had my starter for ~6 months, given to me by a friend that started it ~6 months prior. I feed it equal parts water and flour and it would more than double, sometimes more than triple overnight. Recently, it has stopped. I visited my mom and took it with me, her kitchen is much colder, it wasn’t doubling there. But when I got home I fed it normally (1 starter: 3 water: 3 flour) and nothing. It’s been about 2 weeks now and still not doubling. I read some posts here and tried feeding it as a stiff starter (50% hydration) and that will double!! But when I took part of it and tried converting it back
