I a pair of these running at a remote location. I plugged my router into one of them but the power draw is so low that the Pecron seems to say "no load on my AC, guess I'll just turn it off".

I have disabled eco mode but it still happens. Anyone figured out how to force a Pecron to stay powered on?

Rewatching HG2 and it occurred to me how stupid it all is. The capital has:

- force fields
- genetic engineering
- flying cars
- holograms
- advanced computing
- incredible engineering

. . . and yet somehow they need to enslave a bunch of people in the districts in order to gather raw materials with 1950s technology? Wouldn’t it just be easier to kill all of the rebels, accept the rest as citizens, and use their super technology to get what they need? Everyone would have a higher standard of living without an ongoing threat of rebellion and disorder.

Started Lipitor like 2 weeks ago and I’m still getting the headaches and fuzzy head. Does it get better or have I given it enough time and should ask for a different medication?

Can anyone recommend a jeweler on the east side that does full service work? I know a lot of modern jewelry stores only sell and can’t repair or resize.

I was at my local Costco last night and for the first time realized something: I’m paying them a yearly fee for an absolutely miserable shopping experience. Overly crowded stores that they make even worse by blocking the end of aisles with sample carts, long lines for checkout, no employees on the floor if you have questions, and mediocre savings. Also, hope you like the 1 brand of mayonnaise / deodorant / cat food they sell, because that’s all they offer (until of course they can strike a more profitable deal with a competitor).

Their only redeeming quality is that they seem to treat employees very well, and that is laudable, but doesn’t translate to better customer service for me.

About 7 years ago I built an off grid system for a remote workshop. California high desert, 1600 watts of panels, MPPT charge controller, 4 deep cycle lead acid batteries, and an inverter to turn it into AC.

Batteries are coming up on time to replace again.

I would like to change to something like an all in one battery system, but would be happy keeping my charge controller if needed.

Baseline usage per day is pretty low (just security system and cameras). Max load is when I use the table saw (19.5 amps when cutting, but most likely higher spike when starting). I’ve never needed to do enough work to exhaust the batteries, and if I do I switch to a gas generator.

Anyone have a powerf

Got back from the 16 day Emerald Princess from LA to Hawaii a few days ago. Here is my honest review of the ship and the itinerary.

Ship:

Older ship with older features. It’s a bit cramped and it seems like they’ve shoehorned in some extra stuff over the years. There are a LOT of specialty restaurants on the ship but a weird lack of public spaces, so I think they converted some of the public spaces to these restaurants at the last refurbishment. It makes the ship feel cramped. Entertainment was weak. The only highlight for me was the five piece “big band”. They worked really hard and played some great old music.

The food is pretty awful on the ship. Meats are overcooked. Vegetables are

Written in the 1980s or 90s (I believe), and read in the early 2000s, it features god-like robots that use humans as servants galaxy-wide. The planet I remember most was garden like and had a palatial estate where the robot lived. The human servants were terrified of making any mistake because the punishment would be painful. Certain trusted humans were elevated to be overseers and given some technology so they could travel from planet to planet taking care of business. One of these overseers rebels and tries to free humanity (not sure on this point). Maybe the robots were at war with each other? I remember the overseers had military capabilities.

Tuesday 11/18 boarded in Los Angeles to Hawaii. Something happened with the Emerald Princess that meant we all had to wait in a huge snaking line for up to 3 hours before port security (TSA?) starting screening. Ship left 2.5 hours late.

Does anyone know what happened to cause the delay? Rumor in the queue was that while the ship arrived in port on time it was late getting everyone off.

As we get older we start to have anti-milestones. By that I mean things we do for the last time ever, whether we realize it or not at the time.

For example, I recently re-roofed my house by myself. This was the fifth roof I’ve done in my life and after I finished (and my back and knees locked up for 3 days from the work), I realized that i’m now officially too old to be climbing on roofs while bending over and nailing shingles.

What is your recent “last time” milestone?
