theguardian.com/science/2025/feb/03/ai-to-rev...I've got a Legion Pro 5i Gen 9. It currently contains 1 SSD, a 2280.
I want to put another SSD in. Obviously I want to buy one that fits. The hardware maintenance manual is pretty unhelpful here, it lists options for both the left and right SSD slots potentially being either 2280 or 2242 "depending on model". It also says nothing at all about single vs double sided.
How do I make sure I order the right drive without opening the device up first?
In 2022, Netflix broadcast Ancient Apocalypse, a dumb fucking show in which a lunatic conspiracy theorist and consistent predictor of armageddons that never seem to show up talked absolute fucking nonsense.
So far, so History Channel.
Anyway, in 2024, they're bringing it back for another season. But they've got a celebrity to stand next to the moron and credulously nod along to his bullshit. One Mr J. Wick.
Reddit will finally realise that the guy is actually way less smart than Ted "Theodore" Logan and stop sucking his goddamn dick.
I'll be in the area on Sunday night with a friend and we'd like to do a pub quiz if possible. Any potential Sunday options?

I use dual boot on my machine. Win10/Fedora. Steam is installed on both OSes. Basically the entirety of my games are installed by the Windows version. I barely have anything installed for the Linux version, and rarely use it. They have different installation directories for games, but the same drives are mounted in both OSes.
I just opened the Linux Steam for the first time in ages, and it somehow automatically detected the games from the Windows boot on NTFS, and started "updating" them. I exited the process pretty much immediately when I realised it was changing a whole bunch of games that were already properly installed and up-to-date.
Rebooted to Windows, and everything is pretty much
Several years ago, I had a meal in Vietnam. It was a cook-your-own-meat type thing, rather like a Korean BBQ. I have no idea whether it was traditionally Korean or imported, but it definitely felt more South-East Asian than Korean.
The thing I'm wondering about is an incredibly spicy dipping sauce that came with the meat. One of the spiciest things I've ever eaten. It physically looked like chimichurri, but it tasted like a conflagration.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't Nuoc Cham, we had something like that as well, and this didn't have the sweet/savoury notes as noticeable. But if you google Vietnamese dipping sauce, all you find is Nuoc Cham.
Can anyone help ID it please?
I was recently wandering down the aisle of my local supermarket, and was struck by the huge number of vacuum bottles, flasks and cups on sale, in various shapes and sizes.
They were right next to the teapots. But while there were dozens of insulating flasks, all the teapots were ceramic or glass. And right next to these were the tea cosies, to insulate the teapot.
I've just looked at the John Lewis website. There are 48 teapots. There are zero evacuated ones. The only thing that gets close is one dual wall stainless steel one. Nothing that looks vaguely Thermos'y.
Why has no-one done this? I get why some people woul
Since it's the holiday period and some of us have some time off, we've decided to host an irregular midweek meeting of the Cambridge Drinking Alliance.
It'll probably be a bit smaller than usual, which could mean it's a great time for new people to show their faces and introduce themselves.
We'll be meeting Thursday 28th December at the Salisbury Arms at 2:30, and then may move onto the Live and Let Live depending on their opening times. Check back in with this thread if you're showing up after 4, I'll post updates if and when we move.

Tis the season for family tech support, and so I have been asked to look at someone's phone.
The issue they're having is that their Pixel 6a is setting its volume to zero so calls and notifications go silent. This means that the family member misses all their phone calls when it happens.
This is not the do not disturb mode, or the bedtime mode.
I've had a quick look and can't see anything that could be an obvious culprit. I also can't see any way of seeing a log of when/what changed volume settings (at least not without plugging it into ADB, which I might do but don't have access to a laptop today).
Any ideas as to what could be causing this or how I should investigate further?
Thanks,
