This Chip is Out of Stock: Procedurally generated microchips which are out of stock due to the global chip shortage
jellybean.parts/viewpart.htmlI spent all day hacking on the Fenix build system and came up with an "Iceweasle Mobile" release build with about:config and my own slightly longer extension list instead of Mozilla's. EDIT: UPDATED to not randomly deactivate add-ons when the list gets too long. Upgrade if you're using it. I've heard there's another unofficial build floating around, but I haven't seen it yet.
DO NOT install unofficial builds of anything or give them any of your information. It's a good way to get cybercrime'd. I trust me, but you have no reason to. Especially since I'm not using even vaguely legitimate signing keys.
What extensions should be
I can tell my Google Assistant on my Android phone something like "Play the trailer for Their Darkest Hour on my Chromecast", and the Chromecast will start playing a trailer, apparently from YouTube. (It's not my phone's YouTube app that is casting, because I can be simultaneously playing another video locally.) As soon as the trailer finishes, I get a 5-ish-second countdown on the TV screen, and I am instructed to say "OK Google, Stop" to my phone if I don't want to watch another trailer for the same movie, or some other movie-related video. Then the Chromecast launches into some other video. I want it to just stop.
It looks like the Chromecast wants to autoplay its way through all the Y
With the downloads for SoH being distributed over plain, MITM-able HTTP, it would be nice to be able to verify the download hashes with someone over HTTPS-protected Reddit.
Here are the SHA256 checksums I get for a couple of them:

Can anyone else confirm that these hashes are correct?
Also, does the updater cryptographically verify the integrity of the update file list? And the individual files? Or does it just accept plain text unsigned data over the Internet and run it?
I'm getting relatively disappointing IO performance under Win7 under Xen to my SATA III SSD, connected directly to my main SATA controller. I think I'm having trouble because the Dom0 is needing to get involved in every IO operation.
I suspect I might get better performance if I had a SATA controller I could run over PCI passthrough. Then I could connect the SATA drive to that and have the guest talk directly to the card through the IOMMU.
But I need a controller card that Windows will be able to boot off of (at least after I install applicable Windows drivers). Am I likely to be able to make that work with the PCIe 2.0 x2 SATA III cards I can find for about $20-$40 like [this one](https:/
PSA: MetaMask on Firefox is currently broken and can't be used for the Decentraland terraform event until it is fixed
github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/issues...What mining hardware is able to mine segwit blocks? Can I just buy anything and point it at a UASF-signaling, hopefully-UASF-enforcing pool? Or will segwit activation break some optimizations made by existing ASICs (i.e. ASICboost)?
Since we have a whole ETC chain sort of sitting here with lots of spare transaction capacity and currency with real value, I'm thinking of starting a sort of token-of-the-month club. Basically, every so often we would design, launch, and play around with a token with interesting properties, as a sort of money-based art project. Most of them might not be that great, but perhaps we'll eventually hit on a killer app.
This post is to gauge interest and collect some token ideas. Here are a few of mine:
- Basic Income Token: anybody on the list of people gets some periodically.
- Karma Token: A token that someone hands out in proportion to Reddit karma.
- Complement Token: A token redeemable for
Or even $100. That figure gets thrown around mainly to drive home the point of how great an investment everyone missed out on, but who actually did invest?
I wrote a script to migrate data from Amazon to other clouds with odrive
github.com/interfect/odrive-copy#odrive-copyI had a Seagate external drive fail on me today, taking with it whatever I had on there that wasn't in Git Annex (mostly a bunch of old backups, but also my very latest backup which I hadn't got around to hashing yet). I shucked the drive and put it in a real computer, but although the motherboard can see it, Windows doesn't seem to think it exists. So I suspect the drive's controller might have died.
It seems a bit silly to have to think about backing up my backups, and a backup/archive drive which can be expected to fail after a couple of years isn't that useful, so I'm looking to replace the drive with something more reliable, so this doesn't happen again.
Is there maybe something I can
It looks like SegWit signaling is at about 25% and is not rising particularly fast. If we run out of "Activation Periods" without reaching 95% signaling, then SegWit is dead and we all have to dump our BTC and cry or something, right?
Say we build a self-improving AI that's twice as smart as a human.
It's going to go off and try to improve itself, right? But why should we expect its improved version to share the goals and desires of the original? The AI still has to solve the control problem.
Then when the second-generation AI tries to build the third-generation AI, it has to solve the control problem again.
Since it's not clear that controlling something smarter than you gets easier as you yourself get smarter, and assuming each iteration has some nonzero chance to fail to pass on the values it intended, you're eventually going to have values drift. Probably several times, or at least until you get iterations that don
