I've lived in Laredo for ages and everyone just sort of pronounces McPherson (Mick-Fear-sun). In all my time here it's always been that way, so when my office gets visitors from out of town and they reference the street McPherson (Mick-Fer-Sun) it always makes me feel so strange.

Does anybody know where McPherson got its local pronunciation?

Reading authors whose works span 100K+ words simply murder me. I can't write more than 300-400 words in a 2 hour window. Editing takes me just as much time, so I average about 1000 words per week between working a full time job. My mind can't coherently fathom typing and editing full chapters in the span of a few sittings, yet some authors have no problem doing that.

The cynic in me wants to attribute their success to "not having a life", but that's unfair, since some of my most social friends post regularly.

How much do you normally write in one sitting? Sorry if this sounds like a therapy post guys.
