I want to transpose this song, Care of Cell 44 by The Zombies, into another key: https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/the_zombies/care_of_cell_44_chords_854819

I know these are guitar chords but it sounds perfect to me apart form the fact that the key is too high for me to sing along (or too low -- I end up sounding like Tiny Tim or WolfMan Jack). I found a couple of versions with ukulele chords but they are not very good at all AFAICT so I'd like to start with the guitar version because it has the tune right.

I read this page about transposing ukulele tabs but it seems you need to know what key the song is in first...

So what key

At the Clock Tower bathed
in sparkling consumption
shambling Krsna devotees
are today's army of salvation.
Dusk softens the air and my sadness;
even those with nowhere
to go belong.

Bland mooncalf faces reflect
the year's reward.
Huxley's prescience outsees Orwell
or, let's say, a pill for the masses
a boot for the few.

In this age of the grandchildren
we expose our necks in erotic reverie
at a refined distance from ancestors
and their robust struggles with days --
a hard life if you didn't weaken.

Of the elders' mission to purify reality,
nostalgic gruel remains.
The meaning of their life was its peril,

I'm involved in creating a new C101 introductory programming course for 1st year CS students using JS. We want it to be exciting, up to date and relatable for students. By relatable I mean that our current course teaches Java and relies on terminal-based exercises to calculate the cost of a kilo of apples and that kind of stuff. Apart from the language we're using, the approach is basically unchanged from the 80s and certainly isn't what the students think of when they think of computing. So we want to make it visual, dynamic, running on their phones, and so on.

I'm going to check out the resources in the sidebar -- where else should I look for inspiration?

[EDIT] The emphasis is on compu

Wow, what a book! Krasznahorkai goes from strength to strength or, rather, finds his best form again after what I thought was a dip with The Last Wolf. Like Seiobo There Below, his new book consists of short chapters connected by common themes. Unlike the earlier book, which had a strong sense of being an episodic novel with narrative drive and development throughout (albeit spiralling in on itself rather than moving forward in a linear way), TWGO seems to me on first reading like a collection of stories, although the connecting themes are as strong as before. This might be because some chapters aren't really narratives at all but short abstract pieces drawing us into his nihilistic ph

Hi r/Hungary, I'm reading The World Goes On by Krasznahorkai in English translation and curious about this passage:

Think of it as when some vigilante street patrol, maybe the Hajnoczy [sic] patrol (it doesn't matter which one of many) is pursuing somebody with authorization to kill...

Obviously it or they were vigilantes but I was curious about the context and Google doesn't help. Part of my curiosity was because you wouldn't normally speak about vigilantes having authorisation.

It's another superb book by one of the most important writers of his generation by the way, although of course his books are seen as "difficult". Is he read/admired at home?

In Kenneth Clark's documentary Civilisation, he mentions a poem by Cavafy without naming it. In the poem the inhabitants of a city wait for it to be sacked by the barbarians. The barbarians eventually move on but instead of being relieved, the inhabitants of the city are disappointed -- a catastrophe would have been better than nothing. Can you tell me which poem this is?
