…watching Ted Lasso and he just said…

“…with the exception of the Wit and Wisdom of Calvin & Hobbes, nothing lasts forever.”

…or about that…Great Shout Out!

Some time ago a post asking about small, silly references to favorite books, movies or any other media that you had incorporated into your own world.

I replied with the coffee like drink Klava which originated in the Vlad Taltos books by Steven Brust (I think, I could be wrong but that's where I got it from...)

Recently prepping for a game I needed some "barbarian muscle" and decided on three brothers...named...

Sven

Ole

...and...

Thorsen

What are some homages, nods, tips of the cap and Easter Eggs that you have included in your worlds?

Good day…I could use some suggestions…

A new character in a homebrew one-shot I’m DMing has a Minidrag for a familiar…the Alaspinian Miniature Dragon was created by author Alan Dean Foster for his Pip and Flinx series (first book: For Love of Mother-Not) and it’s an impressive creature.

If you go to aliens.fandom.com and search “minidrag” you can read all about it.

I’m trying to determine it’s maneuverability class…how that would come into play dodging melee attacks and avoiding aerial attacks…distance for empathic communication…pretty much any thoughts would be helpful…

I’ve got a couple basic ideas but I’m very curious how other DM’s might interpret this creature into a D&D settin

My Halfling, Hedge Bramblefeet, Druid and Thief (the skills of which he uses for mischief and shenanigans, he’s never backstabbed anyone in his life, nor picked a single pocket…) is somewhat mercurial and decidedly naive at times but he can be spiteful to those he feels have wronged him or his friends.

Hedge is adventuring with his pals, Avimeer (the half-elf fighter/magic-user), Balzog (the orc shaman) and Challa (the satyr cleric) …on the continent of and in the Empire of Eufear. There has been previous friction between Hedge and the Eufearan soldiers in the city of Dunshin…not violence…let’s say differences of opinion which led to Hedge being incarcerated, wrongly albeit temporarily…he d

I know that I have the CD of the HCJ album She…I remember buying it and listening to it a million times, between 94’ and about 99’, what feels like a million years ago…I just had to hear it today…took me a while, boxes and such, but I found it and am completely enjoying it as if it were 1995…no clue if I need Trouble or want to Whisper Your Name…but it’s awesome.

Howdy...does anybody know where to find a walkthrough for Return of The Exile...if one exists...if not...

I am playing through the module and I am in the Royal Gardens, I've entered the home of Lady Alife's neighbor who she saw torturing people in their basement, I was attacked by mercenaries. I dispatched them without too much effort and found the note describing, what I assume is, the way to the basement. You have to go through "the drowning man". There is a huge painting of a drowning man but I can't figure out how to get into the basement. Don't know if it's a glitch or just me not being able to figure stuff out.

Any tips appreciated, thanks.

So, a long time ago…on the Jersey shore a girlfriend introduced me to the Joni Mitchell album Blue. Since then, some 45 years later it is still my #1 example of a “perfect” album. Start to finish…Perfection.

Now, that’s not an exclusive club but personally, for me, I can say that my list of perfect albums is at about 30.

I never listened to Adele before…a friend sent me her album “21”…and I gotta say…it is definite “perfection, start to finish” and will make my personal Top 30.

It, for some reason, on several different levels, made me think of a modern day Joni Mitchell…no clue why...

Joni …Love You, Always…

Adele …REALLY digging you at the moment…Bravo!

I’m reading The Pursuit of Pankera, the recently released extended version of R.A. Heinlein’s novel The Number of the Beast. In it the characters visit many fictional universes like Barsoom and Oz. When one character is pondering the “universes” he might wish to visit, he thinks...

“What of 221B Baker Street and the house on West 35th?”

Was glad to discover that Heinlein was a Rex Stout/Nero Wolfe fan.

Just watching Cheers on Netflix and in Season 2, Ep. 21, "I'll Be Seeing You: Part 1" Cliff just uttered the line...

"Oh hey, hey, I can Grok that."

Who knew?

We all have a few...guilty pleasure movies. Movies we love but know aren't real good. Ones that you might not seek out, or even think about all the often, but if you run across it, on TV or a streaming service, you just have to watch it!

List a couple of yours that may spark a memory for someone else. I'll start.

18 Again (1988) Gotta love George Burns! Not a great film but Charlie Schlatter does do a good job mimicking George Burns.

The Last Dragon (1985) A downright bad movie but if I come across it I have no choice but to sit and watch until the end.

Have a good evening everyone...Enjoy those Guilty Pleasures!
