1st I've always bought my yeast when I have bought my grains, but harvesting and saving yeast seems pretty cool. Would be awesome to say yep that's the 10th gen of that yeast.

I know that the general rule is to never reuse yeast that is from a high OG beer. But what about yeast that is normally only used in high OG styles? Does the same rule apply? An example would be many Belgian styles are high OG and the brewery's that make them often times only make the one style, like Duval. Does the same rule apply that the yeast will not give good results if collected and used again?

What about Kveik yeast? We know that the Norwegian Farmhouse ales that it has been used for is high OG and this is a

Some of you may remember a few weeks ago I was asking if the beer I was fermenting would be safe to bottle after my Son threw his Binky into the fermenter. The general thought was that since the beer in the fermenter didn't show signs of being infected and the binky tossing happened late in the cycle it should be safe.

I went ahead and bottled it and after conditioning for a couple of weeks tried it out. https://imgur.com/a/q5XmtyD

The taste is very much an American Wheat, kind of split between Blue Moon and Shock Top, there are no off favors and the carb levels are where you would want them to be at. It has a hint of a spicy/clove note plus the citrus notes

On Christmas my 18 month got a wild hair and decided he wanted to mess with my Fermenter, he pulled the airlock and plug off the top, tossed the airlock into the Fermenter and then for good measure threw his binky with attached lanyard into the wort as well.
This was a Blue Moon clone that had been in the fermenter for about 10 days when he did that. Some other points he was getting over being sick with the flu and was still snotting up everywhere so that binky and lanyard were covered with yuck. I was also sick with the Flu so I just fished out everything with a sanitized spoon and after sanitizing everything put the plug and airlock back on the fermenter.
Its been just 2 weeks now and

Well it happened gents! Since getting back into brewing had my first blow out this morning. Was able to catch it early fortunately! https://imgur.com/a/AGvTxA7

Brewed a Milk Stout yesterday and used Hothead as the yeast, because the OG was going to be in the 1.050 range I used 1/2 tsb of yeast nutrient as I've read that Kveik strains are hungry boys and wanted to see if I got better results using a nutrient. I had brewed a Blue Moon clone a couple of batches ago that I used Voss with that didn't have as low of a FG as I was expecting, so I think it might of been because it was too low of a OG for the yeast. As you can see this batch took off like a bat out of hell and 14ish hours after pitc

I'm still a pretty new brewer, haven't gone to Grain or BIAB yet, just doing extract kits still. My Dad and I love imperial stouts and he really likes Old Rasputin and he asked that I make one for this winter. I found the Old Rasputin clone on Morebeer! and I am getting that to brew and then age and have ready for our cold season, seeing how we are in Central Florida that is normally Jan-Feb so there should be lots of time for this beer to get to a good place. I wanted to get some input from more experienced and wiser heads on how to make this the best brew for my Dad.

I'm already using RO water and I do full boil so I'm confident that the mashing and boiling process will go fine, I am look

Just got into Home brewing again after a break of about 10ish years, I brewed my 2nd batch, a Belgin Sasion on Sunday night and the OG was 1.077. I am using Wyeast 3724, which I did prep with a starter on Saturday afternoon, so about 30 hours later. I had a good start of Krausen when I checked on the beer Monday morning before work, about 8 hours after pitching the yeast with a temp of about 78 F. However on Tuesday I noticed that Krausen was about the same or a little smaller and there wasn't alot of actively from the airlock, and by tonight, Wednesday the Krausen is gone, as you can see in the linked photo. I checked what the Gravity is and it is at 1.058 @ 76 F this recipe should have a t

I'm gotten back into Home Brew after being out for a decade at least. I love big Belgians and Stouts so my plan is to brew a easy drinking batch and then a "big" beer batch. I want to do a larger bottle size for the "big" beers and am torn between 22oz bombers or 500ml Belgian styles. What's everyones thoughts?

I don't post here very often as I'm pretty private, but most people I don't think will understand this, y'all will.

I was watching Altered Carbon last night (3rd time through great show) and I started thinking about how cool it would be if the stack tech was real. That lead me to thinking about how death is so permanent we go to sleep its all dark and that's it and boom panic attack the walls are closing in on me I don't want to die and go away forever.

Its something that has bugged me for a long time, I was raised in the borg and so you know what we were taught. And I can remember it being said that even if you aren't 100% sure that its the "truth" why take the risk of everlasting death,

I built my computer 8/9 years ago and while its not the killer PC it was it still slays pretty good, I have upgraded the GPU once to the 560ti 5/6 years ago (I think, its been awhile), should I spend the money on the GPU upgrade or should I just put the money into upgrading the CPU/MOBO/Ram setup for now?

I'm not sure how much of a real difference upgrading the GPU will give me with the i7-950 as I'm afraid that it might be the bottle neck currently that I have, and would love some input. Thanks!

I have some trust issues, I understand that, but it's not just trust issues. Where do you meet people to be friends with? I work in a small company and am basically number 2 there so everyone that I deal with on a daily basis I manage so that's out. I have a table top game group that I go to a few times a month that my local comicbook/gaming store hosts, but do you just start asking people to hang out with you?! Before it was basically anyone that was in the Hall and around your age group was an instant friend! Now....
