They are power hungry. Similar efficiency to the Thiel CS 3.6s I traded them for. That's an ADCOM 555 ii driving them. With a WiiM Ultra pre-amp/streamer.

I've recently upgraded from Claude Sonnet 3.7 from 3.5 when using Cursor on a medium sized Flutter project. Decent, but still makes lots of bonehead errors. You can pretty much bet on a build error when the AI makes any significant change. usually something dumb like an include.
Anybody tried gemini or the newer chatgpt-03-mini-high or anything else with good result? I'm not price sensitive. My time is worth MUCH more thannay LLM so far charges.

It's probably because I'm old enough to remember when all TVs were tube and TVs were utterly unreliable. TV repair shops were one of the bigger businesses in America, even drugstores sold tubes and had tube testing machines. Everybody's TVs were "in the shop" at least once every two years.
It's probably an irrational prejudice, but there it is.

I just acquired a pair of good condition Thiel CS 3.6s and have been driving them with an ADCOM 555 ii I had in stock.
They sound good, but maybe the very high precision and clarity of the Thiels could be better served with a slightly warmer amp.
A bit of online research turned up the Parasound 2250 V.2 as a power amp than can handle the hard load aspects of the Thiels at least as well as the ADCOM, but would bring a bit of warmth to the system.
Thoughts? Other power amps under $2000 (new or used) to consider?

As discussed here, I recently scored a nice set of Thiel CS 3.6s on Facebook Marketplace for $700. I hauled them over the mountains to my farm office this morning and set them up. I added them to my farm office system, previously comprised of an ADCOM GFA 555 II power amp, a Wiim Pro Plus streamer, Polk SDA 2 speakers, and a Douk Audio VU3 to switch between speakers and, when I have them, additional amps. Music streaming from Qobuz.
The 200-watt WPC @/8ohm ADCOM turns out to be

Been lusting for them since soon after I scored a set of Thiel CS 2s. The 2s are really good, so I wanted to know what might better. Research indicated that the CS 3.6 was likely the optimal price/performance trade off. So I started keeping my eyes out. Either too expensive or too far away i patiently waited. two weeks ago a pair came on the market here in Central Virginia for $400. Obviously the person didn't know what they had AND they had Washington Redskin bumper stickers on the lower front plates! Fine by me as I was a Redskins fan in my youth and the Commanders (rebranded Redskins) are getting respectable again. And they were going in my office anyway.

I got a Node X more or less by accident a few months back and incorporated it into one of my 7 music systems. I've really come to like it and so wanted to order one for another of my systems. Looking at various vendors i find the Node X no longer available. I do see a NODE (N132) available at Crutchfield that seems very similar to the X. Anybody know if they are the same, or if not, what the differences are?

I'm just getting started with substack. I prefer to compose in Word and then paste into substack editor. I find the text transfers tolerably well but the images don't. I've tested pasting images from Paint and they work fine. What's up with this? Any known workarounds?

Driven by the wifely opinion that 7 pairs of speakers are enough.
But I wanted to try some different ones, hence the sale.
Within driving range on FBMP I'm seeing these I think I might like: Polk SDA SRS 3.1 TL , Infinity Kappa 6.1, THIEL CS2, Boston Acoustic A200
You can assume I'll pair them with suitable electronics (wife doesn't notice those!)
My other speaker pairs - across various listening room - are:

There's been a lot chatter on reddit of late about the brand new Wiim Ultra
Streamer/DAC/Preamp, people talking excitedly about back-ordering
etc.
So I got an email from Crutchfield Tuesday saying they had them in
stock so of course I had to try it out. I've had a Wiim Pro for
awhile, and recently got a Wiim Pro Plus and have liked them all.
When they have something at a market price I prefer Crutchfield for
mail order. Stuff generally comes the next day (we're near
Crutchfield HQ) and they are absolutely no questions asked 60 day
returns. I've heard say they also have good customer support but
I've never had to use it.
