Received the call at 6AM from Memory Care.

They said better come now. Called my brother and headed down there. Walked in and Dad (92) was on oxygen, unconscious and I could hear The Rattle. Nurse came in and gave him some medicine and The Rattle stopped. His breathing was more relaxed and he looked peaceful.

Brother and I sat with him until he passed and then some. Hospice chaplain was with us while we waited and every single member of the staff came in to say their goodbye, many in tears.

We stayed through the pronouncement and ToD, then walked Dad out with the funeral home transport.

I can't say enough good about the memory care and hospice staff. It takes a special kind of p

Well, tbh I suspected. The 6.68 PSA score and subsequent prostate MRI and prostate biopsy all were big clues. Probably don't do those for no reason, right?

But today, the doctor said "it *is* cancer". I went numb. I think I already knew, but the actual words hit me like a sledgehammer. My wife grabbed my hand but I didn't feel it.

All I could think were thoughts like "I don't have time for this" and "how much is THIS gonna cost me?"

The doctor, bless his heart, spent an inordinate amount of time trying to explain things to me but I was still numb. "P-RADS score 3" and "Gleeson score 3+4=7" and it's "low to moderate" and my head is still spinning.

Next step is the CT scan to se

About a year ago, I had my intake manifold replaced (leaking coolant). The new manifold has an extra port on it not used by my truck with a rubber cap on it.

Maybe six months later, the cap blew off, blowing out most of the coolant and leaving me stranded. Replaced the cap, refilled coolant and all was right again.

Until Tuesday when I was driving to work and suddenly noticed steam coming from the RF wheel well. Fortunately I was close to work and made it there before the temp gauge started getting close to hot.

Replaced the cap, refilled the coolant and all is right again....but now I'm ultra paranoid. I'm keeping a spare cap in my glove box just in case but I'm curious if anyon

Dad (91) went on a tear and made 64 phone calls between 1AM and 8:00AMthis morning.

This included 21 calls (and ten voice mails) to me, another 15 to my brother, 3 to each of our wives. Basically everyone in his Assistive Access phone book.

Sundays is our day to visit him in his memory care and today he was on fire, argued with everything said including the time on the clock.

Wish I knew what triggered these episodes. I know lack of sleep has something to do with it, but short of sedation (which is frowned upon) I'm at a loss.

Probably need to tell everyone in his address book that if he calls in the middle of the night, just block him.

Rant over. I'm going to take a nap now.

Dad has been declining. His NP came to see him yesterday and texted me after. I asked if palliative care would be appropriate and she said we're basically doing that now. She suggested Dad might benefit from hospice care.

I met with the people today and signed him up. It seems like the right thing to do, but at the same time...like we're throwing in the towel.

Is this just final acceptance?

I know he won't live forever and we're just trying to make sure his final months are comfortable. Quality of life and all that, ya know?

Just venting. It seems like such a big decision and we made it just like "that". (Snaps fingers)

Thanks for listening. Love all y'all.

In the past three years, Dad has gone from living on his own, to independent living, to assisted living and now to memory care.

During that time I've shared some of his more memorable exploits: like the time he ordered a whole rack of ribs from Kroger delivery that was larger than his freezer. Or maybe one of the times he decided that since he didn't have a job, he couldn't afford to live there anymore, so he unplugged all of his stuff and tried to walk out the building.

First of all...my family loves my Dad very much and we have to see him the way he is right now, but sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.

So, Friday night Dad calls and says his "bag is leaking". He means th

We've sold a fair amount, but we had a defective one last week. I (PM) went with the client to a SuperCharger a block away. We followed the directions and got the red flashing light in the charge socket. Stopped the session, started over with a different (new) adapter and it.worked like a champ. Sent the client in their way happy.

Then today a guy comes in saying his won't work anywhere. Just wants a refund. Fine. Refund him and send him on his way.

Processing the warranty and his VIN hadn't had the campaign performed. So now I'm not sure was he doing it right, does his car have the software update or what. My guys are supposed to be checking the VIN before they sell one over th

We have a drawer designated for keys. You probably do as well. Since we don't cut any of our own (MB), it takes a day for the blade to come in. Not a big deal except sometimes people forget to come back to get their blade.

Before inventory, we clean out the key drawer and anything older than two years gets removed. We never really throw them away and since September I've had a nice collection of key blades on my desk. Maybe 20 in all. They're kind of therapeutic to stack together and push around the desk. Kind of like a Parts Man Zen garden.

Today a Service Advisor came in and said he wanted to see if a key was still here.

MB dealer here.

We're switching from CDK Service to MyKaarma in January.

They want a list of all our "packages". We don't really have "packages" and MB are so complex, you can't really even do simple menu pricing.

We do have some CDL SDL lists that would be handy to have loaded in: trans services, front cover reseal jobs and the like.

Does MyKaarma have a way to create bundles, kits or packages? As I understand it, we'll no longer be able to pull quotes over from the CDK Drive side like we do now.

We're being asked for information without knowing how this thing works.

What works for you guys?

My 90yo Dad is in the hospital recovering from another UTI. This makes 5 in the past 17 months. With each successive UTI, he's suffered noticable cognitive decline. He's now to the point where he has virtually no short term memory.

For the past couple of weeks, every night he'll call me and my brother saying he's not in the right place, not sure how he got there, but doesn't know how his family pictures were hung on the wall. This behavior tipped us that he might have a UTI so his doctor sent out medicine. He didn't improve so we brought him to the ER this weekend.

The hospital is pushing toward discharge to long term SNF. We say he's still confused and want him evaluated.
