I fly out back to Minneapolis tomorrow out of Heathrow in Delta One. Thanks to this group I know about the Virgin lounge, which I will be taking advantage of. Are there any other Virgin perks that I can take advantage of?

I am flying to Europe in a few weeks and took advantage of a great mileage deal for a D1 ticket from Minneapolis to Heathrow and then booked a separate ticket on British Airways to and from my final destinations (Lisbon and Barcelona).

My Delta flight lands at Heathrow at 7 am, presumably in terminal 3. My BA flight leaves for Lisbon at 11:50 am from terminal 5. I’m traveling with checked bags and my two flights are separate tickets so I’m assuming I will need to go to the BA terminal to check my bags after retrieving them from my first flight.

Is there any way to and/or does it make sense to still take advantage of the Virgin Clubhouse? I would love to freshen up and kill time in comfo

My daughter is T1D and will be leaving for a 5 month study abroad experience in Spain this week. She will have a carry on rollerboard suitcase full of medical supplies. I know she’s allowed a medical bag in addition to her normal carryon allowances (one item stowed in the overhead and another, personal item, under her seat). Are there restrictions on the size of the medical bag, aside from regular restrictions of carry on items?

For reference, she’s also planning on bringing a 35l backpack and her school backpack as her other carryon items. She is flying Delta Main from Minneapolis, connecting in Amsterdam with her final destination of Barcelona.

Are there steps she should go through

I took advantage of Delta’s D1 Europe fare sale and booked a flight from MSP to LHR but my final destination is Barcelona. My MSP bound return flight leaves LHR at 12:10 on a Wednesday. The earliest flight from Barcelona that day is on British Airways/Iberia and lands at LHR at 8:45 am. I will have to collect a bag and recheck with Delta and will have Sky Priority boarding on my second flight out of LHR.

Three and a half hours seems like a good buffer to make it all happen, but I would love to hear from more seasoned travelers, particularly those familiar with LHR. Does that seem like a reasonable reservation or an invitation for a travel headache?

I am planning a trip to Europe this spring to visit my daughter who will be studying abroad in Spain. The award sale popped up and I want to take advantage of the low miles deals for D1. I’m based in Minneapolis and booked a round trip nonstop D1 flight from MSP to LHR since this flight cost me less than 200k in miles. My plan is to book cheaper regional flights to get to where I ultimately want to go; one leaving LHR to Lisbon and another return flight from Barcelona back to Heathrow.

I want to give myself plenty of time since the flights won’t be connected in the system and a delay could make my flight home challenging.

Am I overlooking something that makes this plan a bad idea?
