Hello fellow Brighton supporters. Being Australian and having terrible timezones to watch games, I've never really been able to get into the Premier League. This year, I decided to change that, and I've committed to Brighton as my team (I'll probably have to watch most games as replays but oh well).

I know who the big clubs in the league are, but my knowledge of who's currently good, who we should hate, any rivalries (I've heard Palace is a rival, but how much do y'all actually hate them?), who the best players in the team are. Or just anything else that you think a new supporter needs to know heading into the new season.

I would appreciate literally any tidbits you share, no matter how sm

Hi everyone. I have created an alternate R32 knockout tree that tries to balance fairness in the draw (so we don't end up with Brazil vs Japan in the R32), and also days break between teams. I'm just curious on what everyone thinks, and if there's an unknown downside I've failed to account for (like more collusion potential). I really don't like the way the knockout tree has been drawn, so I've been trying to come up with a better design. Below is the full concept and what the tree would look like based on this years group stage:

Concept: Each group is placed in 1 of 4 pools. Pool 1 would be groups ACE, pool 2 BDF, pool 3 GIK, pool 4 HJL. Within each pool, the worst ranked 1st place team wi

Hi everyone. I'll be working in Melbourne CBD tomorrow and was originally planning to head across to Fed square at 11. But thinking about it more this seems unlikely I'll actually be able to get in.

What other places can I watch the game? I've never gone to any sort of watch party before and not sure the best places to go. Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

When it was announced 48 teams would be in the world cup instead of 32, I thought I would hate it. But getting to see teams like Cabo Verde get these major upset draws has been so exciting to watch and I've come around to it. However, I still don't like that some 3rd place teams qualify for the R32, and the H2H while probably fairer has made some rather boring final round games that have literally 0 impact. So, I would like to propose the following system for a final 24 instead.

The concept. Each group would be either in "Pool X" or "Pool Y". I would do something like the odd groups (ACEGIK) are Pool X, and the even groups (BDFHJL) are Pool Y. At the end of the group stage, a ladder is crea

I'm going to define the dilemma fully so we're all on the same page. You are teleported to a room with a 1m radius circle drawn in the middle and a red and blue button on the floor (so babies can reach it). You find yourself in the middle of the circle and hear the following instructions (in a language you understand)

"All 8 billion people on earth are facing the same choice as you right now. You have 1 minute to cast your vote by pressing a button. After this time you will either die painlessly, or be sent back to your home depending on the outcome. If at least 50% of the votes are blue, everyone lives. If more than 50% of the votes are red, everyone who pressed blue will die. You may also

So let's take the adult only version of the OG, because I think it's far more interesting when you don't have to worry about toddlers picking blue. Every person 16 or older that is capable of thinking for themselves has to press a button (~6B people).

If at least 50% of people press Blue, everyone survives.

If at least 50% of people press Red, everyone who pressed blue dies, and also a random 100 Red voters will also die.

🔵 Blue Button: if more than 50% of people pick blue, everyone survives.

🔴 Red Button: if more than 50% of people pick red, everyone who picked blue dies.

In the unlikely event it's a perfect 50/50, no one dies.

Hi everyone. Inspired by a question here yesterday about the smallest number of clues needed to solve a CluesBySam puzzle, I decided to make a puzzle that used only 1 clue. Since enough people seemed to enjoy that 1 puzzle, I was motivated enough to have a crack at a second puzzle.

I don't want to hijack the subreddit (and also I'm out of ideas for more interesting puzzles) so this will likely be a once off occurrence, but I wanted to share my puzzles with people I know would enjoy them. Puzzle 1 is easier, puzzle 2 is a little devious but I think it's really satisfying to solve :)

Puzzle 1 (posted in the comments of yesterdays post)
Clue: Each Profession has exactly 1 innocent neighbour

A few of you may have seen my AFLW ELO rankings post last week. There has been some interest for the same thing for the AFLM, so I decided to run it back all the way to 1990.

How it works: Everyone starts the 1990 season with 1500 points. New teams entering the competition also start with 1500 points (with the exception of Brisbane Lions who got the average of Bears and Fitzroy to preserve the 1500 league average). If you win, you steal points from the opponent depending on how likely you were to win; upsets steal lots of points, bigger margins also steal more points.

What this means is that there is no ELO inflation, a 1500 score is always an average team, a 1700 score is always a strong

Hello everyone. Inspired by the weekly Power Rankings threads during the AFL season, I decided to make an ELO calculator for AFL teams that works by having winning teams steal points from losing teams. Teams that are expected to win by big margins steal less points than teams that were expected to lose or be a close game. Considering in the AFLW we aren't yet at a point where you play every team once, I feel like this is a pretty good indicator of who the best teams are, considering that beating bottom teams doesn't give you as much ELO as beating better teams. To try and make this as accurate as possible, I have taken this all the way back to 2022 (s7), the first time the AFLW had 18 teams.

Hi everyone. Inspired by the AFL reddit power rankings, I decided to create an ELO ranking for AFL. For those that don't know what ELO is, it's simply a rating applied to each team, where if you win you steal points from the loser, and if a lower ranked team beats a higher ranked team they'll steal more points depending on how big the gap is. Considering how well the North girls are doing I thought this was something we'd all be interested in.

For this AFLW model, each team started the 2022 (s7) with 1500 points, and I ran it for every game from then until now. At the end of the season, teams get scaled towards 1500 a little bit to account for off season changes. I especially like this for

Hi everyone. My fiance and I are currently planning our wedding for 2026 in regional Victoria. We've noticed a lot of Venues are currently offering some pretty expensive freebies/extras if we book before the end of June 2025 for a pre June 2026 wedding.

We are currently leaning towards a September/October date and were wondering if anyone knows if these kind of promotions are likely to pop up again in a few months for the 2nd half of 2026?
