With America’s 250th anniversary coming up this weekend I’m wondering how many of you fellow Philadelphians have direct ancestors that fought in the Revolutionary War and if you’re willing to tell us a little bit about them?
So our homeowners insurance dropped us due to the asbestos siding on our 1880s folk Victorian. We are on the south shore of Long Island where a lot of homes are being dropped for stupid reasons just because they are looking to stop covering people here. We were able to find only one company to insure us if we don’t change the siding… which we can’t afford… and that was even using a broker BUT they want us to paint the chipping paint on the fascia.
What paint to use when it’s this cold in the Northeast?
I need to buy a lot of storage bins to finally organize everything in my attic after the holidays but they are pricey! Has anyone seen any good deals on them at certain stores?
We have an 1890’s house with asbestos siding and unfortunately we aren’t in a financial position to remove it at the moment but we were dropped by State Farm after 10 years for accidentally being days late on a payment when my FIL was hospitalized and our broker found us ONE insurance company that would insure us but we sent photos in like they asked and now they are canceling us after the 1st because of the siding.
What are our next steps if even the broker can’t find someone us to insure us?
We have new homeowners insurance and need to send in pictures of the perimeter to the insurance company. There is a ton of road work around the block that has caused a lot of rats in the neighborhood. We tried everything from keeping the foundation clear of leaves, garbage cans with secure lids, filling their holes but they were still an issue… outside, never inside thank god lol.
My husband got the bait stations a few months ago and we’ve been rat free ever since but we weren’t sure if that was a red flag to the insurance company and we should remove them before taking the photos or if it was a good sign in showing that we are proactive in taking care of our property.
Thoughts?
I was always a VERY great reader for my age growing up. I wasn’t good at talking… obviously since I’m in this sub lol… and I was anxious socially due to my stutter so I escaped in books.
My stutter isn’t like a porky pig stutter. I don’t get stuck on the first letter, I just open my mouth and can’t physically get the word out so when I’d read aloud in school it would seem like I didn’t know what the word was but in reality I couldn’t make it come out of my mouth. Instead of waiting for me to finally get the word out, the teacher would say it for me. I was eventually put into a pull out class in 4th grade for students who needed extra reading help despite having been in speech through the sc
The site loads fine at first but when I do a search it doesn’t yield results, it just says there was a problem loading the search results. It’s been happening for hours on my laptop and on my phone.
Which Marshall’s or TJ Maxx on the island has the best/biggest selection of men’s clothing?
I have limited systemic scleroderma. Diagnosed about 6 years ago. I have all symptoms besides skin involvement including scar tissue growth every time I’ve had a major surgery.
The scar tissue growth has been a major issue. I had my gallbladder removed and 5 years later the scar tissue grew so much that I had 100% blockage of my bile duct causing bile to go into my liver so I had to have surgery to fix it. I had 2 c-sections and 6 years later I had scar tissue growth so much so that it caused me to have an ectopic pregnancy and my tube burst and I had to have major surgery to remove it.
Needless to say, I’m very apprehensive to have the resection surgery even though I’ve had diverticuliti
