I realize that the memory leak issue has been well-covered on reddit. However, it deserves more publicity. I tracked real memory use on my Mac using the *footprint* command and filtering for phys_footprint (which I believe is raw, but uncompressed) over a couple hours without using the app at all, without touching it. Below is what I saw.
Right now, I have a monitor running to alert me when ChatGPT has consumed over 10 GB of real memory: It's already "frozen" my Mac and exhausted system memory on two occasions, so I need an alert when I've let it run too long.

If you need a manifold mesh where you can immediately notice any nontrivial (singular) rotation, then use a tetrahedron with one edge lengthened. The symmetry group of this polyhedron has cardinality one, so there are no non-obvious ways to rotate it.
Personally, I need this kind of an object frequently. I dunno if others do, but it's simple and quick.
...but I can't find it. Does anyone recognize it?
I gave my 12-year-old greyhound some Solimo jerky a few days ago and since then she's had terrible diarrhea. Could someone recommend some reliably US-manufactured chicken or duck jerky? I can't find good info on where Solimo is manufactured, so I have little trust that it's not adulterated.
I feel that a number station would have just one number, on repeat.

It's probably three too, because who can really count all the way up to seven these days?
I have a 12-year-old greyhound, and I've always noticed that her saliva is especially slippery. Even if I pull a new dish she hasn't eaten from and put a normal non-slimy dinner in it, or just water, then when I wash the bowl after she's done, hot soapy water isn't always enough to remove the slick "coating" from the bowl. What is it in dog saliva that makes her feeding dishes so slippery after she eats or drinks? (Her health is very good, by the way. She was struggling a little until I got her on the right kidney-health diet, but now she's tip-top.)
I can't figure out how to disable Google Password Manager in Chrome. I've tried disabling my existing password manager (KeePassXC) and enabling and disabling GPM, removing KeePass, and a number of other formulas, but I just can't get it to stop asking to save passwords. Here is a SS of my settings:
How can I stop GPM from asking to save passwords?
I need two rectanguloid (all sides are rectangles) pieces, each 1.25" x 3" x 1.75". The edges and corners should be rounded. I'd like a hardwood, but I'm flexible as to which. No finishing needed.
If you'd like to do this for me, please quote me a price. Shipping is to San Francisco.
Hi there. I would like to get a few screenshots of the 3DS Max 3d viewport when each of these three simple meshes of a set of axes is loaded (FBX, GLB, OBJ), showing both the mesh and the axes widget. The purpose is to see whether the standard blender exporter preserves "forward" orientation with the default settings, so please use the default import settings for Max. Thanks.
Hi there. I would like to get a few screenshots of the Maya 3d viewport when each of these three simple meshes of a set of axes is loaded (FBX, GLB, OBJ), showing both the mesh and the axes widget. The purpose is to see whether the standard blender exporter preserves "forward" orientation with the default settings, so please use the default import settings for Maya. Thanks.
With a rigid body simulation, one can use Apply -> Visual Transformations to an object, but this seemingly "disconnects" it from the rigid body physics system. The rigid body may be removed from the object and reapplied to get a "reconnect", but is there a better way directly to reconnect an object to its rigid body physics without losing settings?
There is no regular blur node available to blender, but there are some hints on the web that it's possible to use an OSL script for this. None of my research located anything that worked by itself, but I managed to piece together a functional OSL script & blender configuration that "works" to perform a simple blur, with some limitations. Here are the requirements:
- Cycles
- CPU, not GPU
- Open Shading Language checked
- Texture file to be blurred must reside in the filesystem, and there needs to be a direct reference in the script node in the shader.
This is the script that I have working, which I call Box-Blur.osl:
// 1. Cycles
// 2. CPU (not GPU)
// 3. Open Shading Lang
